3.5 mm jack splitter for speaker and headphone use?

Has anyone ever used a splitter for their headphone amps and speakers so you can use them both on the PC?  I'm going to be hooking my amp to my soundcard and I want my speakers to be connected to the soundcard also.

Will one such as this work?

Will be using a Schiit Vali to power my DT 990 Pros and I also want to use my M-Audio AV40s.

I have this question as well. My computer only has one 3.5mm combined jack which is currently occupied by my headphones. I want to get a pair of Swan D1080-IVs but I'll have nowhere to plug them.

The best thing you need is a switch, if your speakers require seperate power feeding them and the Vali should be ok, you'll spilt the voltage coming out of the Sound card which will require more work on the part of the amp, which could lead to clipping in both your speakers and the Vali, as the Vali amplifies the signal it gets from your sound card, a more powerful signal doesn't require as much amplfication, where as a weaker signal might cause the Vali to overdrive, it won't put put any more watts than it's rated for, but if it over drives the headphones it won't sound to good, the clipping an what not

How ever the link above is for a Schiit Sys cost $50 and is a good idea for using the line out of your Sound Card to Monitors [speakers] and headphones it should prevent any clipping as well
