Bad Sound Quality "Sennheiser CX685 Sports"

I bought a pair of these for running and read the reviews which were fairly positive, I tried them out and the sound quality was terrible, no bass at all and just overall poor quality.

I have 2 cheaper pairs of sennheiser earphones both of which sound way better which is strange.

Did I buy a pair of lemon/fake earbuds?

The bass is the first thing to be affected when there's a bad or partial seal between the eartip and the ear - have you tried the large size eartips which came with the CX685?

I would try different eartips as Steve suggested, but honestly the in-ear 685 series aren't bassy like the CX300 or the CX200 and its variants. I own a pair of OCX685s (same as CX685 but with earhooks) and I was surprised at the bass response. No, they don't produce a lot of bass, but what's there is relatively tight. If you want big bass response you should probably look elsewhere.

They only sent medium sized buds, do you think larger ones would produce better sound ?

I never wanted much bass just a little, but these sound like there is practically none and with the volume all the way up its not that loud either.

I have a pair of cx300's and a pair of OMX-680's both sound far better then the cx685.

The guy is going to send another pair out, but I'll get some larger earbuds and see if they make a difference.

The CX685 should include the 3 sizes of eartips when new.
