So I fired off an email to the Hidizs company and they informed me the silver version will be available from August.

Probably of interest to everyone is that they responded within about 30 minutes.

and if you drop it, scratch marks on aluminum finish are not visible :D

I just got back my 128GB sandisk card (after sandisk replaced it, failed controller), formated to FAT32 and it's recognized!!!!!!  Woo-hoo!!!!!!  I guess when I first tried it (I had default 066 firmware), maybe I didn't have FAT32 format.  But either way, here you go - 128GB microSD is supported!!!

  • Hi twister6.I am the Hidizs's product manager,and i planned,designed the AP100.But,my Written English not proficient. :)
  •
  • You said about the link to download firmware ,i will let Hidizs's technical support team. Later they also settled here.
  •
  • The 128GB microSD is supported FAT32 and NTFS, We recommend use FAT32(this is the computer's hard disk format),it will better support.

Hi everyone. I am brand new here, so this will be my first post...

I hope to read more impressions and information about the AP100 as I am also about to purchase one. Actually I already got in contact with Hidizs through their customer service and we exchanged some mails. Having further questions which I couldn't find answers to on their Homepage, they always replied fast and competently. What I can say for now: Their customer service doesn't seem to be lacking.

I will add further impressions and possibly a personal review as soon as I will get my hands on a sample.

@ twiste6

Nice Review man. Very informative. Did not hear/read so much about the AP100 'cause it's a newcomer on the Scene, but most things I heard were positive so far.

@ slyn

Nice to see you here. I already asked your customer service if/when we will be able to see you on the Forums ;-) Always appreciate it to have a more direct contact for information, feedback, etc.

By the way: Are there any plans for improvements like implementing a gain-switch in the menu, adding a USB-DAC-function, or DSD-Support (all nice to have features, although not necessary for me personally) via future firmware-updates?

i bought a AP100, i'm so disappoint, this DAP very bad, UI bad, Sound quality sucks, too much low treble, it's not natural at all

@ BatToys

Would you mind telling which phones you combined the player with? And what kind of music you listen to and which format you used? What issues exactly did you have with the UI?

@ BatToys

Give it time, dude, use 24/96/192 upsampling, dude. As long as your device isn't damaged, it can't sound bad. I've made A/B comparison with Ibasso DX50 (latest firmware), Colorfly CK4+ hardly moded, and finaly Fiio X5.

We had serious headphones on meeting - Sennheiser Momentum, Bayerdynamic DT770 250ohm, Sennheiser IE80 and about two hours to play around.

Both me and my friend (the owner of Ibasso & Fiio X5) agreed. AP100 has a killer price/performance ratio and outperformed everything below 400$ price, including Fiio X5 .

i work in a headphones store, i have everything here, noble FR, XBA-H3, momentum, X3/5, DX50/90... everything. Seriously. I have tried all upsampling.

I can only browse songs by folder and file, not by tag like in iPod, ex Genres, artists, album...

Can you tell more specific how you are dissapointed in AP100? Which DAp are you comparing it to and which iems/headphones you are pairing with?

Perhaps you had a defective unit, who knows.

No, i don't say that. Soundquality is the most important

If I'd work in a headphone store, I would test a sample in every setup possible before buying it... Or,, if the specific DAP is not sold in the store, play it safe and buy a FIIO or Ibasso. With a certain employee's discount maybe a X5 or DX90 or at least the X3 or DX50 would have had a similar pricing, if I'm guessing right.

Not knowing about how many units of the AP100 have been sold by now, hearing/reading about defective units already are not a positive advertisement for their quality control. And I cannot imagine a new manufactor risking a bad reputation right fro the start.

Anyway, a defective unit would be possible, but why he doesn't like the player can depend on so many variables, I think.

I've got a question about the background noise appearant with more sensitive phones. At the moment I have an DX90 mostly for home use or when I am travelling, which I combine with a Focal Spirit Classic or a Denon AH-D600 (that I personally like a lot). I think the Hidizs shouldn't have a problem with these, right? But I want to purchase the Hidizs for daily commuting and maybe even some sports, maybe pairing it with the Havi B3 Pro or the VSonic VSD3S, aiming for a budget-friendly and more portable solution for my purposes. Do you think the Havi should be a better pairing 'cause they're less sensitive than the VSonics?

I don't know. On my IE80 the noise was there but as long as the music was playing, it was non-distinguished.. Can't say anything about Havi B3 Pro or VSonic VSD3S, haven't heard them. The problem become apparent , from what i've read, only on armature IEM's below 18 ohms impedance, but i can't tell for certain. Anyway.. Still can't understand the complainings about HiDizs sound, considering the upsempling function, which basically gives you a hardware EQ and lot of fun. I've made A/B for two hours and it was no contest... Nothing came close to HiDizs musicality.
