Apart from AT 03, which In-ear would you suggest?  I was earlier thinking of a Dunu DN1000/ VSonic Gr07 + X5/X3 combo.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Different headphones have different sound signature, it all depends if you are looking for more neutral/detailed, or balanced with some low end enhancement, or fun with recessed mids and booming bass, and so on.  It's all up to your preference and budget.  If you are asking which one pairs up better with AP100, they all should work well, and output is high driven so don't need external amp.  At the same time, you have to keep in mind that any high sensitivity headphones (over 105 dB/mW) connected straight to HO of AP100 will produce a background white noise (amplified noise floor) so you will need in-line impedance adapter around 75-100 ohm to knock it down.  In comparison X5 has low/high gain setting where in low gain you don't have as much background noise and don't have to worry about extra adapter, but in my opinion AP100 has an edge of X5 in sound quality.

You probably better off asking a question about headphones in that section of the forum.  Just describe what style of music you are listening to, what is your budget, and what DAPs you are planning to use as a source.  You will get a lot more recommendations.  I personally have a favorite headphone every other week.  Some become favorite as part of a "new toy syndrome" which fades a week or two later, others I revisit 2-3 months later and it's like a shiny new toy (similar to how my kids find their old toys they haven't played with in months).

For example, last night I switched to HM700 with RE400B (balanced wired version), and I think it's the best thing in the world lol!!!  Today, might be AP100 with Tenores :)

Without seeing a schematic of their inner guts to figure out the signal flow, to me AP100 is a "black box", I mean literally :)  I'm just using my ears to judge it, and from LO the sound didn't change in the same drastic way as it was from HO using SRC.

Can't wait for more people to chime in with their impressions.

That was a brilliant answer, and I couldnt agree more. Somehow reccomendation thread did not work for me, did not get answers.  More one reads review more confused a new person can become.

However way you explained made sense to me. And yes i understood the white noize problem and again well explained.

I think this is the player which suits my needs n budget compared to X5. My primary music is 70's Rock + Metal, Some modern day alternate music and lastly some techno, like Chemical Brothers or Daftpunk etc.

Just ordered AP 100 from Ebay.

I am happy enough with Fiio X5 better than DX100 which I used to own. But when I found out that AP100 comes with Cirrus Logic DAC chip it got my attention!

It is the same type of chip on my Marantz AV SR7007 which sound I love dearly. They are neutral slightly warm, full body wider sound stage and soft highs and lows. More importantly it sounds elegant. One member here that compare X5 directly to AP100 had described an exact impressions how I feel about Fiio X5 compare to sound from Marantz SR7007.

I hope this is true with AP100.

Can't wait to compare with my current set up ie. Fiio  X5- E12 - HE400/ HD650

Holding my breath and crossing my finger ..:beerchug:

Just received the Hidizs player. Quick First impressions the SRC works very well. And contrary to what was said here it works with LO as well as HO. I hooked it up with my JDS LABS C5 and it sounds awesome. One funny thing though is that i can still adjust the volume on the player via LO. I thought this was not possible and only through the connected DAP. Anyone know why ?

I guess I gotta check it again, but I could have swear coming out of LO the difference in sound using SRC was nowhere near HO.

Nice leather case!  I'm still waiting for mine :)  Don't have AP100 next to me now, so will double check volume adjustment via LO a bit later.
