A Review of the Sony MDR-E828LP vs. MDR-E848LP earbuds - Page 2

I'm sitting here sniffing my E848's trying to find a scent. If anything, they sort of smell like my gym bag in which they stay overnight. Maybe I should just spray them a bit with cologne

Though I won't receive my MX-500s until tomorrow morning, here's what I now know about Sony's sub-$15 earbuds with 16mm drivers: Crapola. The untrained ear may think the MDR-E818LPs, MDR-E828LPs and MDR-E829Vs sound great - but even the "audiophile on a budget" like me will find that resonances distort their sound. Those low-end Sony earbuds sound boomy and tinny both at once - just like the MDR-V900 Studio Monitors I thought I loved. But now I know that they're mediocre at best!

My recommendation: If you don't have even $10 to spend on earbuds, my new recommendation (for now) has to be the Sennheiser MX-300 (not the Sony E818).

Not sure which contradiction you're thinking of. Explication?
