Something to be aware of before buying Bose Quietcomfort 15?

Im looking for a new pair of headphones since my old ones broke. My friend owns a pair of Bose quietcomfort 15 - and i think they are amazing! Im not an expert at all on headphones but as an average user i find these headphones awesome. Im not thinking about the whole noise cancellation at all. Just the sound quality. Is there something i should be aware of before buying? My music taste is very overall. From hard dub step to reggae.

I got some questions though:

1) Can the noise cancellation be turned off?

2) Whats the difference between Quietcomfort 15 and Quietcomfort 3 - beside one is over-ear and the other one is on-ear?

Thanks for the help! :)

The noise cancellation can be turned off, but if you aren't going to use it there is not much point in getting them. Listen to some other options. The NAD VISO HP50 has good reviews and is on the Inner Fidelity wall of fame, maybe you should try them.
