Thanks for the interest and the prompt payments! For those of you who are still interested but could not make it in the first round, I may plan a second trip to 2000ok if there is enough demand. So keep checking back for updates! Thanks!

Hello,

I would like to organize a little group buy for the following item:

2000ok HP-100A Hybrid Headphone Amplifier

http://www.2000ok.com/news/010.html

The price is 880 RMB (~$108) for a kit, 960 RMB (~$118) assembled, and 1100 RMB (~$135) assembled with Russian tubes. There will be a slight surcharge for international ATM banking fees ($3.5 per use), as well as PayPal fees (2.9% + $0.30).

I am going to go down to Shenzhen to meet the guy who operates 2000ok (a Japanese guy, apparently) and check out his products, and of course, buy some of them. I am buying one kit for myself, and one for another Head-Fier here. The problem is, how to get the product to you in the US?

There are two options:

1. I can ship them to the US from here, and you pay actual shipping charges. I don't know how much it'll cost right now but expect to pay at least around ~$30 each. I will try to find out soon, and once it's cleared I will post the information on this thread. This would be the preferred option.

2. I can bring them back to the US when I return on September, and ship it out to you from there. I can only carry back about two max I think, and once I get to the US I'll still have to ship them to you anyway so there's still a bit of shipping charge incurred.

Anyway, since I am planning to go sometime next week (of course if there's enough demand I may need to delay the trip a week or so) I would like to know who's interested in this group buy. Act quick, because I won't be able to lug 20 sets of these amps home myself.

Please PM me and post a reply to this thread if you're interested! Also if you have any questions feel free to ask on this thread, I will answer to the best of my capability.

Thanks!

[EDIT]

CLARIFICATIONS:

1. I CAN SHIP WORLDWIDE
2. SHIPPING FEE UPDATE: SEE POST BELOW
3. I CAN ACCEPT DIRECT PAYPAL TRANSFERS
4. I CAN ACCEPT CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS THROUGH PAYPAL
5. I CAN ALSO ACCEPT WIRE TRANSFER
6. PAYPAL PAYMENT INFO UPDATE: SEE POST BELOW

Oh, forgot to mention... This amp requires 220V (as seen in the pics) unless you install a different transformer or something. I am not sure if the transformer has dual secondaries for 110V but yeah, just thought it would be worth pointing out.

Looks cool!

I just checked the website. It uses two 6DJ8/6922/7308 tubes. Can also use 6H23 or one call 6N11(?) Maybe 6N1P.

Can you find out if it can be built with a different transformer to work with 110V in the first place?

I'm interested in a pre-assembled unit with Russian tubes, but I'm in EU.

How much would shipping be (to Finland)?

Also, could somebody translate the technical specs into a coherent English form.

I'm sure many are at least interested in output impedance (for Beyer and Grado cans that are not impedance linear) and amplification power (for more power hungry cans).

Thanks for organizing this group effort!

Regarding the tubes... I know nothing about tubes, this is my first tube DIY project... Hopefully I will know soon - sorry I can't help you out with that one!

Regarding the transformer, I will make sure to ask the guy sometime tomorrow or something and post the results here. I highly doubt the unit can be built with a 110V transformer in the first place, but if you buy a kit you may build it yourself with a different transformer or get another head-fier to DIY it for you or something. Or, you can just get a nice 110V-->220V transformer to power the unit...

I haven't heard the amp myself, but kelly has done an extensive review of the SonicAdventure Reality which is a derivative of this amp:

Also, see this thread for more feedback:

To be honest, I have no idea. The thing is, I have no idea how much shipping to the US will cost either. The only thing I can assure you is that total cost to you is going to be under $20. I will find the best price for reasonable shipping (within 1~2 weeks max.) when I get the unit and ship it out to you.

This is what I can find from the website:

Po=500mW(300ΩRMS)
FR=8Hz~110kHz±2dB
THD≤0.05%(f=1kHz、10kHz、20kHz,RL=300Ω,Po=200mW)
S/N≥90dB
16 Omega ~ 600 Omega
Weight approximately 5.5KG

Check out the above thread link for more detailed info.

if you look at the pictures, you will notice that they do not match up, look at the position of the alps and headphone jack on the circuit board and now look at the picture where it is inside the enclosure. i was referring to the first 2 pictures

please count me in for a completed with russian tube.

btw i do not think that it is too hard to have them assemble it with 120v transformers.

Actually, they do match up, the PCB is on the upper side.

Found a postage fee table:

http://babelfish.altavista.com/babel...2fgjkybgzf.htm

It says it's for "international aerial transport water land route package mails" according to BabelFish... I don't know what the heck that means, and how long that takes, but assuming the amp is 6kg (specs say 5.5kg, but with packing material it will be closer to 6kg), shipping to the US is 317 RMB which is around $40 USD.

Shipping to Europe is slightly more expensive, and varies by country. For example, England is 424 RMB but Germany is 372 RMB and Denmark 323 RMB. Seems like it won't exceed England's 424 RMB (makes sense, since England is separated from continental Europe) which is a little more than $50 USD.

I can't say for sure but it will probably take two to three weeks given previous experience with China Post international mail.

If you REALLY want the amp soon there's always UPS or DHL express service which gave me a quote of ~$120.

So there you go - between $40 and $50 for shipping. I will visit the post office and see if there are other options available but I think this is pretty much it.

ACCEPTING NO MORE ORDERS FOR NOW

PAYPAL PAYMENT & RESERVATION - UPDATED

If you've made your mind and would like to reserve a kit/amp, please PayPal me the following amounts:

If you're paying from a US account:

KIT with Russian 6H23 tubes: $115.12
ASSEMBLED with Russian 6H23 tubes: $125.23
ASSEMBLED with Russian 6922 tubes: $142.92

If you're paying from a non-US account:

KIT: $117.43
ASSEMBLED: $127.74
ASSEMBLED w/ RUSSIAN TUBES: $145.78

(This is a rough estimate from the previous non-US payment. If there are any differences I will take that into account in the "shipping and miscellaneous" bill)

This covers the $3.5 International ATM banking fee and the 2.9% + $0.30 PayPal surcharge. Since the trip to Shenzhen costs 140 RMB for the round-trip train ticket and a little extra for taxi rides to and from the station, this will be split up evenly among the buyers including me and charged with shipping (probably ~$5 maximum per buyer). Shipping fees (plus those minor miscellaneous fees) will be charged after the items have been shipped, according to the exact shipping (and miscellaneous) charges.

My PayPal address is: ---. Along with your payment, please send me a confirmation email with what you'd like to purchase and your shipping address. Once I receive the funds I will send you a confirmation email.

Thanks!

I think they just listed down a few countries from Europe that get the most shipment volume. Shipping to Spain will probably be along the same $40~$50 range. I can't imagine why there would be any sort of special restrictions for countries not listed, so don't worry. I will try to find out if I get a chance to go to the post office before I leave for Shenzhen.

How would this amp compare to a PPX3 or a PPA?
