just another help me choose headphones thread :)

Hi guys,

I want to buy a pair of headphones and i could really do with some advice.

I have no audio knowledge in order to describe my requirements with the appropriate terms :confused_face_2: but i will try and be as descriptive as i can in layman's terms.

So far i have been to some shops and tried the following headphones:

Beats: Absolute crap, i find the bass too crispy for my taste and the sound is not deep enough for me. A bit uncomfortable as well.

Sennheiser 429: Comfortable headphones, the sound was good but nothing to get excited about, also i found the volume wasn't high enough.

Bose soundtrue: Comfortable with a bit better sound that the 429s.

I would like a pair with deep sound and deep bass(like its filtered) with great clarity.

They should also be comfortable as i would be wearing them a few hours a day. Not too big that would look ridiculous. Would prefer them not to use batteries.

My budget can reach up to £120.

I would appreciate any advice! Also please state if your sound taste is close to mine..

Are these for home or travel? Will they be powered from a phone or ipod?

Consider Sennheiser hd598 or a pair of CAL's.

Hi Matt,

Thank you for your response. I will be using them primarily at home with my macbook and also outside with my iPhone.

A couple of other things that i forgot to mention is that i would prefer headphones with mic(volume buttons are not as important) and also a pair that doesn't have a very long jack in order to avoid accidents with my macbook.

How do the 598 differ to 429??

For mic hp's take a look through this:

Should give you a good many to look through.

Hmm, that guide is not really helpful as many of the headphones don't have inline mic, they are too bulky and are for gaming, something that i never do..
