need advice and recommendations on 2 or 2.1 channel computer speaker

Thread Starter

I recently want to upgrade my computer speaker system and looking around some product. Right now, I am struggling between HK soundstick 3 and Bose companion 5. I know there is a big price difference between these two. What I don't know is that how much difference in terms of performance/sound quality (or maybe there is not too much difference at all?!) .But I heard a lot of saying that Bose is frequently overpriced... I also noticed some interesting products from the Edifier (e.g. prisma/spinnaker), but I don't know how good these are compared to HK and Bose. Btw, I mainly use speaker watching movie and listening sound track.

Any advice and recommendation would be greatly appreciated!

Try the Klipsch Promedia 2.1. I haven't heard the Bose myself but I've read that the Klipsch sounds better, and they're less than half the price.

+1 on the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1, sometimes Bestbuy has them on sale for $99.

Find them used on Ebay for under $90.

If you prefer more detail over bass.

Monoprice 5" studio monitors 2.0, around $170.

Research the JBL LSR305. Has gotten lots of great testimonials and reviews since it came out last fall.
