Sound Card Help

Thread Starter

Hello all I'm an audio newb, so here is my dilemma:

I want to get the Asus Xonar DGX because it is a good neutral sound card and can provide virtual surround sound for games. However I need optical input and output. Mainly so I can have virtual surround sound with my ps3 as well. Can anybody give me any good ideas? Are there any good adapters I could use? Could I add a second sound card for optical input only and output through the xonar?

(Dont want to use the astro mixamp or creative if possible)

The only two ways that i know off to get headphone surround sound from a gaming console (Xbox, PS3,PS4) is the Astro mix-amp or using a A/V receiver (like a Yamaha) that comes with headphone surround sound (using HDMI or S/PDIF connection).
