Question regarding the Little Dots Tube Amps

Can I change the tubes on the Little Dot MK III just by taking them out and putting a new one ? or do I have to solder it to the board ?

How about the Little Dot I+ ?

thanks

If the tubes are compatible, all you do is carefully take the existing tube out (rock it back and forth to help ease it out) and stick a new tube in. It's that simple.

One of my tubes broke for my Little Dot MKIV - SE and I ordered a new set of matching tubes and that was it. Hope this helps.

No soldering required. In fact it would probably damage the connection.

is the Little Dot I+ like that as well ?

I have low Impedance headphones, Should I go with the MKIII or the I+ ?

Get the MK-IV SE for just a (hundred fifty?) dollars more. There's one on amazon. You wont regret it... the tubes are much nicer and the overall power can drive my HD800 with a warm flavor..

And yes, all tube amps I know of don't require soldering. Just take the tube out and put a new one in, assuming it's compatible..

Sorry, Another Question:

when you are swapping the tubes (in this case [LDI+] there are two tube slots) do the tubes have to be the same or is it possible to use two different tubes side by side ?

I am going to buy the LD I+ Hybrid since All my headphones (including the future buys) are low impedance.

Im not quite sure what the question is, but I think you're asking if you can use two different types of compatible tubes side by side?

In theory, probably. However, people almost never do this because you want a pair of matched (balanced) tubes. That's why tubes are typically sold in sets of 2 so that their specifications are matched.
