Creative ZxR or STX II

Hi

I hesitate between ZXR Creative and STX II asus. That is for 50% games and 50% music. I use a beyerdynamic mmx 300, which is better? The surround is it important? Because it seems that asus is bad

Thanks

Get a used Essence STX and replace the three op-amps ($10-$60).

I personally love my ZXR which I modified better than my modified STX. Same types of modification applied to both. I even took my computer to a local high end audio manufacturer who said it sounded better than any source he had available to him.

I have read of problems with it on certain motherboards though. In my case it works perfectly & even offer lower DPC latency the STX did by quite a bit. About 1/3 the latency in fact.

Note that the modifications I do do not require changing the opamps though does require minimal soldering skill. The sound is very radically improved with my modifications.
