Help with picking out a sound card

Thread Starter

Hey guys, I'm trying to purchase a new sound card right now.

My options are extremely limited because I have to use Best Buy store credit.

I'm gonna be using the sound card with a Schiit Valhalla and Beyerdynamic DT990 Premium 250ohm.

Here are my options

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olstemplatemapper.jsp?_dyncharset=UTF-8&_dynSessConf=5589947530439215584&id=pcat17071&type=page&ks=960&st=categoryid%24abcat0507003&sc=Global&cp=1&sp=-bestsellingsort+skuidsaas&qp=soldby_facet%3DSAAS~Sold+By~Best+Buy&list=y&usc=All+Categories&nrp=15&fs=saas&iht=n&seeAll=&browsedCategory=abcat0507003

I'm assuming the Asus Xonar DX is the best one.

Also, would it be a good match for me with my setup.

I listen to music like The Shins, Crystal Castles, Baths, Radiohead, Pixies, Modest Mouse.

Thanks!

I have had the DX since release in my HTPC, and it's a pretty good card. I'm still not a fan of them using a PCI interface with a PLX chip and requiring an external Molex/floppy connection for power (PCI-E, electrically, can deliver 75-150W to the card), but it is very versatile. I stopped using Creative products a long time ago after the whole 3rd party driver fiasco, but that's a personal preference.
