Your favorite "for fun" headphones?

post #1 of 5
Thread Starter

For me, "for fun" headphones will emphasize convenience, appearance, comfort, and uniqueness in their appeal, while still having sound quality that is at least acceptable.

My favorite "for funs" are:

  • Parrot Zik - bluetooth noise cancelling over ear:  you have to be intrigued by their stark, Starck (as in Philippe Starck, designer) appearance, their iPod app that changes the virtual sound stage and equalization, their no-button touch controls for volume and song skipping;
  • HeartBeats IEMs -- good bass without messing up the treble, most easy-to-insert IEMs I've had to get a good seal, flat cord for convenience;
  • Sennheiser PXC 310 BT - almost as small as IEMs, these wireless folding noise cancelling on-ears will actually fold to fit into your shirt pocket.

What are yours, and why?

Thanks!

I like the title of this thread. In some ways we can end up being a little too serious here. Many talks about 44.1/16 bit versus Hi/Def........and so on.

It is really about enjoying music.

My favorite go to "fun" headphone is the ultra-light AKG K512 Mark 2. I pair it with an iPad 2 or a iPhone or iPod Touch.

I like the comfort and the fact I don't have to worry about being careful with them. I like the fast detailed mids. They have a nice relaxing sound and big presentation.

Far from an audiophile sound but great for day to day use.wink.gif

I'm certainly a fan of my Denon AH-C360. Easy on the ears, and easy on the wallet, but you have to be careful with them as they aren't the most rugged iem out there.

Philips Fidelio X1s, no doubt about it. To be fair, they're my only open headphone, and I use them daily at home. My Sony MDR-X05s are good for portable fun, but since I've been into grunge again lately, they've seen less use.

I guess my 'for fun' would be the V-Moda XS. The design attracts everybody's eyes, regardless of age. And they're so light that sometimes I thought I was using IEMs. Sound quality is great too.
