Looks like a fun get together.

Refreshing to see the GS1k getting some respect.

It was a fun time!! You're cordially invited to come down for the next one-- You'll almost certainly have the honor of being the first of our Candian brethren to attend the Music City Meet wink.gif.

And yeah, man, the GS1K was really, really impressive. I had read so many frankly dismissive comments about Grados in general that I caught myself mentally assuming they were just kind of inferior garbage. While I don't see myself ever replacing my HE-6 with a GS1K based on my personal preferences, I was INCREDIBLY impressed by several of them, most especially the GS1K. That sucker is the real deal... I'm not usually one for soundstage (couldn't care less, really) but that headphone had such a dramatically out-of-the head experience with some songs that it was literally awe-inducing. And the ability it had to render guitar tone and texture... Yes, yes, a thousand times yes, lol! I told Fred (the owner) several times at the the meet that he was going to cost me a significant sum at some point in the future by bringing those to the meet.

Since the meet, I've bought the Beyer T51p, Beyer T51i, and a set of Magnum v4s. If I had to lay odds on the cans I'm most likely to buy in the future based on what I heard at the meet, the GS1K and Alpha Dogs would be at the top of the list, followed by the ZMF V1. And the GS1K are probably the most likely... They were just really, really impressive cans, and I loved 'em out of HPA on the Lynx Hilo. Crazy transparency.

(Edited for syntactic clarity. English nerd, whut?)

If you still have a pair of GS1K available at the meet, I will be at least two things:

1). Surprised (you tend to sell 'em off with a quickness that is impressive, to say the least), and
2). Up $#!t creek fiscally, as I really want a pair of these.

Darn you, Jay.

Thanks for the invite.....let me see what I can do for the next one. :beerchug:

I have to admit that I was somewhat shocked to see the positive responses to the GS1K.  I myself was one of the earlier adopters of the GS1K back in 2006 (still have it) and I can recall even back then the negative criticism it received.  It just seemed to snowball to the point that it was just assumed that the GS just plain sucked.

Most of the negative reviews came from those that had yet to even hear it (as is the case a lot of the time)

I was a big supporter of that headphone way back then, and as I mentioned in my previous post it was truly refreshing to see a group of Head-Fier's let their own ears be the judge.

Admittedly the old girl doesn't get the head time it use to but nonetheless I appreciate the fact that your meet and most that attended have re-opened my eyes to what a special headphone the GS1K still is.

Thanks for that.

So.... How are the Magnums?? I really jealous of your Beyer's  I really want some of those....They are the one headphone that I heard at the meet that I just thought, I really dig the sound of these.  You should hang on to the Magnums at least to the meet so we can hear them:wink_face: If you ever get the GS1000, I don't think you will regret it, I love mine more and more everyday. Just so detailed and musical. Nothing compares.

I'm very excited to see how you compare the PS to GS after a longer period time. I would have to have to think about getting some more headphones.

and for what i paid for them, if i don't keep them, it sould be easy to get about all my money back

its pretty much going to come down to which one to keep, the lcd x, or the ps1k, and if i keep the ps1k

i imaging i'd let the gs got too

Well, if you do decide to let go of the PS before the meet, let me know, I would probably buy it from you.

Well, the cable detached from the driver last week, so I haven't been able to listen to them much :(. When they were working, though, I actually really liked them quite a bit. They had that Grado ability to nail tonality and texture in a way a lot of cans just can't seem to match. And I don't plan on selling them anytime soon, so yeah, you should get a chance to form your own opinions at the next meet ;).

As for the Beyers, well, I think the ones you're referring to were Ben's T51p... But he later sold them to me, so you might have a whole preternatural Miss Cleo thing going on :p. Yeah, I think they're pretty darned impressive. I finally got my T5p back today, and the T51p isn't in the same league really, but it's incredibly darn good for a (truly) portable headphone, and I've enjoyed it immensely.

Honestly, if I hadn't committed to going to Cancun with some buddies to celebrate a divorce (don't ask), I'd probably have already caved and picked up a GS1K. I've been reading the Grado Fan Club thread religiously since the meet (keeping track of all Jay's various wheelings and dealings :p), and have read the Grado Modders Go Magnum thread in its entirety, along with a few others. So I'd say it's safe to say your Grado love is highly communicable, and I'm most definitely afflicted-- and I love it ;).

Lol!! Around and around we go... It's almost embarrassing how much I enjoy watching your General Hospital-esque headphone dalliances, Jay. Now you've just got to hang onto a couple of 'em for the next meet, 'cuz I really want to hear those PS1K Grados!!! :gs1000smile:*

*(Please also note that the last smiley there is specifically the GS1000 emoticon... Because I'm even anal and accurate when it comes to kitschy smileys. Booze helps though. :D)
