Brand Spanking New A&K AK120II and AK100II - Page 53

post #781 of 1482
I want to know when we can see AK100II in HK too, and what the price is.

Someone in this thread said it goes for HK$6980 but I asked the local store last month, they said $7980. We had the AK120II earlier than US/ EU, but now seems not for AK100II.

By the way, I am using Sony ZX1060 with MediaGo software to rip CD to FLAC and transfer music. Anyone knows if I can use MediaGo to transfer music to AK? Because I could with my Android phones

Thanks!

Wow that thing looks fantastic, just so polished and on the bleeding edge. Boy, it's a tough call between this and the Geek Wave for me. I have to toe the line and can only consider daps below $1K, and this has made a strong case for itself. Lovely pictures, btw.

Gorgeous looking player.

I have the Titan with its 2 card slots giving me a total of 384 GB...if only the new model had 2 card slots as well!

The AK100II will be RMB 5888 in China so HK price should be lower than that. I think $6980 is more likely.

Its hard to compare an immediate available product with actual user impressions versus some changing brainstorming ideas/concepts on the internwt that may or may not come into reality (god knows how many other DAPs would appear during that period).

Bingo.  It's like asking me to compare today and decide between if Jun 2014 or Jun 2015 is better.....

Wonder how these compare to HM901 in terms of SQ

LFF of Paradox fame has heard a prototype of the Geek Wave and said it sounds great, so there is at least something to go on. It will be significantly cheaper than the 100II as long as one doesn't choose all of the "perks."

There's a dilemma to this. The player looks good without case, but also good in the case. It's hard to choose.biggrin.gif I think I'll keep it in the case to make it look extra special when I take it out once in a while.

s0ny, which sounds 10/10 to you?

@SilverEars

Tell me about it!! The pics have smitten me more than i ever could expect compared to the time when i first saw the AK100 first gen... i never thought i'd feel for a product more than i did last time!

@s0ny

I'm a sucker for aesthetics lol

As a backup player? Once it arrives my shore and if i don't find the 240 significantly better than the 100II i might just sell it off and replace it with the 100II

Like you suggested in your last post, if the AK240 doesn't sound drastically better, you could go for looks + size + SQ and keep the AK100II. I would end up using only one device if I'd buy both. It's up to you.

I tried the AK100II today with JH Roxanne AK03s and my VSonic GR07s. It is an astonishingly beautiful device and the UI is quite good, but I listened to the exact same tracks from my J3 (by swapping out the microsd card) and the difference was not very noticeable through my VSonics (I'm very familiar with their sound). I wish I had more time with them, but as far as first impressions go, it's not a $700 upgrade over my J3 sound-wise. It is a stunner, though, so I can easily imagine people getting swept off their feet by the design and build quality - it certainly does look like it costs a big chunk of change. IMO+WMMV.

Why not sell your J3 and keep the AK100II? I am very happy that I returned my iBasso HDP-R10 and got an AK100II instead. I like small this player is. It's smaller, but thicker than my iPhone 5S.
