Insane... $2200+

That's about right.  Where x = model number:  (x*10)+99 = MSRP  :D

I think they look absolute great !  I was saving money for the AK 120 Titan, but I will go for the 2nd gen.

why would i spend 2200 for ak120II if the flagship is 2400 for Ak240

AK really are very expensive gear

I think the prices on eBay are a little high. They will come down slightly when they are actually shipped from the US, just like the 120/100/240. Just the initial premium.

But yes, in general, crazy expensive products...!

still think titan is the real deal. bigger storage over software anyway.

so who determines the price, how much do u think they will cost after few months

I'd like to see objective measurements of these bargains...I'm 99% sure that quality will not justify the cheap price.

This company will end up selling 7 daps a year priced 100.000$.

End of rant

GoldenEars has the measurements for the original models.

i don't believe that producing such daps is that expensive, and they would benefit a lot more if they would make available within a reazanble price, small profit per piece but big sales

Costs a lot more to develop and build an AK100II than say a Shure 846 yet they are the same price.  Just saying.

Which raises a question I've always wondered about.  Would one experience better sound with a $1000 earphone and a $500 portable integrated dac/player or a $500 earphone and a $1000 portable integrated dac/player?? Inquiring minds want to know.

As always... it depends.  I personally view it that while the transducer makes the most difference tonally, it can't correct for what is lost along the way.  Being highly resolving and fed garbage is a great way to ruin the listening experience.  Flipped the other way a great signal fed into a poor transducer that you do enjoy tonally is, well, enjoyable.  Balance is key.
