With my mention of DIY cable parts, I forgot to mention that for me, DIY stands for `pay someone to do it`.

I`m not skeptical of balanced mode, because it was so obvious with my HD800 out of my PB2.  However I just assumed the difference was due to increased power in balanced mode.  So with the AK, my expectations will be low.  Still, gotta do it.

Does anyone know if the WD My Passport wireless HD will work via wifi or Bluetooth?

Not that I know.

The AK's need a special, own application to stream, free when you have/buy one. A bit buggy, certainly on windows 8.1.

As Bluetooth it is only a source, not a consumer of content.

Kind regards,

used with this cable, has to work right?

NO!   ;-)

1. Your Astell & Kern has a specific connections on the 2.5mm TRRS, there is no real standard in this.

     Astell & Kern Connections

2. The first cable you mention is an iPod Audio/Video Cable not an Audio Cable

3. As for your last option, you lose the balanced (and could damage you AK100, as the 2.5TRRS => 3.5TRS has to "short" something.

Well, it will probably work, but not in balanced. You're better of then to simply use a 3.5mm stereo to the AMP. (so only the 3.5->XLR cable).

4. Options;

        * get the connectors and cable, they are not expensive, and make a cable.

        * have a cable made by a specialist (CAN be very expensive)

        * check the interwebs, but that will not be easy.

Some suggestions:

This option will be easier to manage or change; 2.5mm TRRS A&K to balanced XLR   => Then look for a more standard XLR => dual XLR

Processed By eBay with ImageMagick, z1.1.0. ||B2

Or check-out moon-audio options, mail them or give them a call:

Get a Black Dragon V2 Headphone Adapter Cable;

"Headphone" Connection: Dual XLR 3 Pin

Termination: 2.5mm TRRS for Astell & Kern

Length: you can select the length

It will cost you 100$ or so for a perfect cable ... MAIL AND ASK BEFORE YOU ORDER!! Make sure!!

What I would do: get the Moon-Audio ... it will be what you need, not what you can "find".

Hope this can help,

I use it with my iPad and a app downloaded for this use. But unless AK incorporates some app, it won't work.

Thanks for instructions, let me check with Moon-Audio. Looking at the manual ground is coming from Earphone port and not Balanced port. Ohh all these confusion, I do not understand how balance works differently for Audio device and headphones. For audio device both ports are used and for headphone only Balanced port is used.

Hey guys,

Does anyone know where I can get my hands on a 2.5mm balanced to 3.5mm single ended adapter?

I have my Ref1's terminated in 2.5mm, which is great, except sometimes I want to use my iPad or the like and it means carrying a 2nd pair of IEM's just for that.

I do have some SE cables, but they are inferior to the stock tralucent gold/silver cable.

Its either that or I try sell the stock gold silver cable and pick up another cable of equal quality in single end, but I would rather not,.

You can try ordering online from Double Helix Cable, Norne Audio,

I did try the Ref1 terminated with 2.5mm TRRS with my AK100II at Jaben SG, and they also provided me with 2.5mm to 3.5mm single-ended adapter for testing, so I know the adapter is available and will work with AK100II/120II/240.

In the first place, do these songs have album arts embedded in each track?

You can try mp3tag to check if they come embedded with album arts.

For me, I try to keep the album arts within 500 x 500 pixels, and so far it works all the time on my AK100II and FiiO X1

Probably simply the files are too big.  All my album art is super tiny, like around 100kb.  A lot of included album art is in MB range, and some of contains PDF booklets that are relatively huge.  Just re-size one image and delete all the rest.  Also make sure the image is in the `root` of the album folder, not in it`s own `Images` folder.  I`m not sure if this causes bugs, but for the sake of the OS I try to keep every file as simplified as possible.  256GB, of thousands of folders, is a lot of crap to keep organized, a lot of potential for bugs....

Indeed.

Normally I just have 1 album art, which I named it as Cover.jpg, with max size of 500 x 500 pixels in the root folder of the the album with all the songs.

Keep it simple and works all the times on the AK100II and the FiiO X1.
