Hello,

I have done a few searches regarding Senn HD580/600/650 cables but didn't find a lot of info regarding DIY cables.

I am thinking of making an all-silver cable using something like one of Homegrown's silver braids... The reviews of the Moon Audio Silver Dragon say it really brings out the Senns' treble and I'm hoping making my own silver cable will help bring out the upper end of my HD650.

Has anyone tried anything like this before?

You might try some kind of cable from Zu to use for it. The Zu upgrade brings out the upper end of the HD650 more than the Silver Dragon. I don't know if it would be worth it cash wise though.
BTW, The PPA purk has that you built is GREAT.

that would be interesting...i think it would be a little difficult making the end terminals though.

I remember reading here on Head-fi someone had friends in Mechanical engineering that had access to a machining shop, and they were planning to build connectors for the Sennheissers made of aluminum, a la Zu Mobius. Search should bring that thread to your screen.

People have been talking about finding/making Senn connectors and/or pins since late last year. First there were the people in the thread (here) that augustwest started last year. Now, there are the mechs mentioned in the link that h3ng provided above. These kinds of threads always start with lots of promise, and we all jump on the bandwagon, but they invariably fizzle out.

So, who among these people will come through for us? We already know that the interest level is very high, so why bother asking? Frankly, I'd like to see someone mill out a bunch of pins or connectors, then post in this forum that he is selling them for x dollars. If someone did that, then I'd jump back on the bandwagon. Otherwise, I'm going to be very skeptical of any future threads like that.

D.

Now that I've seen the insides, of at least what's in that sticky thread in Headphones as far as pics, it looks like there are possibilities beyond those stock connectors and plastic and mesh. Now if I just had a pair of Senn's to play with...

yeah, it seems like the mold is the hard part...

i am sure someone here on this board is accessible (or know of) to some sort of mold making machine.

oh well, tell then...

I was actually thinking of cutting the connectors off the stock cable and just using them. Isn't this how the first generation replacement cables were made anyway? (the Clou)
