recable or replace UE700?

Have a set of UE700s that i absolutely love.  the wire is starting to pull apart and Logitech wouldn't replace them with anything other than the UE600, which I didn't believe was a good substitute.  Their other offer was to give me back my purchase price, but since I got these at a wicked price, I can't replace them for what Logitech was offering.

So my question is this, is it possible to have these recabled in Canada (or the US) for a nominal price (don't need anything fancy) or am I just better off replacing them?  I love the size, since i use them primarily with my motorcycle helmet, and with the comply foam tips, they are super comfortable.  i've been recommended the Shure SE215 which are pretty reasonably priced, but I'm concerned with how they will sound being a single armature coming from a dual armature setup in the UE700s.

Thanks

How much did you pay? There's a lot better options since ue700 technology is becoming obsolete.

yeah, that's i'm thinking.  I'd prob attempt it myself if i had the slightest clue on how to get them open.  I can run a soldering iron.

$72 plus taxes about a year and a half ago.  2 year warranty, but since Logitech doesn't have any UE700s left in stock as replacements, they want to replace with the UE600.

I've tried both and the UE600 aren't that much worse than the UE700. Sucks that they can't give you another UE700, but honestly the UE600 is a great headphone and I'm not sure you could find a better one for $72.
