Interest Check: Music Hall CD-25/Shanling CD-S100 Opamp Upgrades

Is there any interest out there for opamp upgrades for Music Hall CD-25/Shanling CD-2100 CD players? I have a couple Burr Brown 627's and Browndog adapters sitting around that I'd like to get rid of. What would be a fair price to ask for a pair of them (I.E. two adapters with two opamps soldered on each of them)?

I might be. The opamps I have for the CD25 have 1 on each browndog. You're saying there's 2 per adapter?

Because of the OP627's architecture, two are required on each adapter. To accomplish this, the opamps are soldered onto a Brown Dog adapter. The Brown Dog is then inserted into the place where the old opamps were. I'd be selling you two Brown Dogs with two opamps in each Brown Dog (total of 4 op627's). To illustrate how it works, here is a picture:

EDIT: Notice the pins on the bottom of the adapter. These are what you insert into the CD player. Also, I won't be able to ship them off for about a month, as I am stuck at school right now, and opamps are at home.

Hmmm....I had a pair of 627s in my CD25 for a few weeks. There was only one in each of the Browndog adapters. That's 1 per channel. This looks like 2 per channel. I just assumed that since they were SMT one needed a Browndog for the DIP-8 sockets on the CD25's board, not due to any doubling up of them.

If I remember correctly the MH CD 25 has two dual chips (OPA2604 or OPA2134) so replacing them with OPA627's (which are single chips only) requires two OPA627's per adapter.

Whether you use 627AU's (SMD) or 627AP/BP (8 pin DIP) would also affect which adapter you get but you still need two 627's per adapter.

This is correct. The opamps I'm using are 627BP's. I'm currently using the same exact setup in my CD-25, and they're definitely a marked improvement. The CD player sounds much faster, or more responsive, most likely due to the 627's increased bandwidth. They also make the CD player sound warmer, and much less dry than the stock opamps.

Bit of a plug: I'm in the process of modding my cd-25, and the improvements putting my home made 627s in was quite large. The bass filled out(hopefully my cap upgrades will help this as well), detail came out. It's a real eye opener.
edit: yeah, forgot to mention that a total of 4 627aps are required for this upgrade, as dual opamps are required for each channel. The 627s are mainly single channel, so 2/channel = four. I think, however, some smd 627s come dual channel

That must be what I had then. I got my player already modded from Sound Odyssey. I've been rolling opamps in it and so far they've all been single chips. It makes sense, though, as now that I think about it they were all dual-channel (627, 8066 and 8620).

It's off topic, but I would like to know what mods you did and your impressions. Care to post something in the source forum?

Hey, I'm interested. What sort of prices are you asking for 'em? 4 chips on 2 adaptors right? You're offering completed items or loose chips I have to solder myself?

I'm offering completed items, 4 chips soldered into 2 adaptors. You don't have to solder anything; all you have to do is pop out the old opamps from the CD player and stick the adapters in their place. I won't be able to ship anything out for 3-4 weeks, as I do not have access to my electronics at this point in time (I'm away at school, all my stuff is at home). As for the price, to be honest I'm not really sure what's fair. Make me an offer and we'll work from there.
