Hello. I am new to sound and dont know the terminology much. Anyways im looking for headphones to replace my broken Sol Republic Master Tracks XC. I listen to rap/hip hop both old school and newer stuff. I have been looking at the Beyerdynamic Custon One Pros's and the Audio Technica ATH-M50X's. I need help figuring out which I should buy or if there are better ones I should buy. I dont want to get headphones that need an amp or anything to make good. I also will be using them in and out of the house so they have to be somewhat portable. I am looking for good bass of course but i also want to be able to hear the lyrics of the song. My price limit is of course around $250. Thank you for your help I hope to hear from someone.

Hey there bud! From what I've heard and known, I would say to give the M-audio Q40s a look, they have incredible bass, and a warm, present mid-range, which made vocals quite nice on them! If they are a bit too big for your portable needs, I would look into the Sennheiser Momentums! Everyone has a fit issue with them (including me) but they are still extremely comfortable for hours and hours even with them resting on my ears a bit. They have pretty satisfactory detail for it still having a dark/warm sound which gives bass in great quality and definitely enough quantity IMO. They too have a very musical and smooth mid range which makes many vocals sound pleasant and somewhat relaxed, and if neither of those are your cup of tea, then maybe you wouldn't mind the M50s that much, I found them pretty nice but not as good as many others seem to have, but then again you could enjoy them just as much as the people who praise them! :D

Consider:

ATH WS99
ES FC300
Q40
Custom One Pro

Personally, I'd choose the WS99 or FC300 but the others are great.

Thanks for the suggestions but I'm looking for over ear headphones(should've included that). The over ear momentums are way too much but the q40s like nice I've been seeing a lot about those.

Are the WS99's better than the M50x's in your opinion?

IMO the WS99. Bass, mids.
