Sound Quality: Senn HD 439 vs Grado SR-80I vs AH-D40FS

I am doing a report for a college writing course where I have to compare three products, and I am comparing these three models of headphones.  I am also considering buying one, when I save some money.  However, I don't know a whole lot about headphones, so I thought I'd ask you guys.

How do those three models compare in terms of sound quality alone?  Could you dumb it down a little to explain to the new guy?

I listen to a lot of rock and metal--melodic death metal mainly, if it matters--so bass is pretty important.

Thanks.

As a card carrying Senn freak, I recommend you go with the Grado SR80i...because you are a metal bass freak! I am a Jazz Snob and not into head banging at all. Acoustic jazz bass is where it's at for me. My BIL likes rock and metal. Good for him. So I bought him the Grados and he is quite chuffed and thinks I'm the Dude. (He's a goofball!)  enjoy, it's all music and me Love Steely Dan cause it's Rock with Jazz sensibilities! You go for what floats your boat!   alejandro
