Headamp for the HD650, K712, maybe HD800

Hi there folks,

I'm currently looking for a Headamp for my HD650 and K701 for around 300-500$. I'm not sure if I'll upgrade to the K712 or HD800. That's why I'm looking for an allrounder who can handle alle of those. How about the Lehmann Audio Studio Cube or the Lake People G109? Any recommedations/experiences?

I happen to own the HD650 K701 and HD800. So far I have failed to find a single headphone amp that can master all three of them. It has always been a case of one or more headphones being OK, but the other ones coming up short.

From those I've had the pleasure of listening to, it would be the Burson Soloist/Conductor. The current on these is fantastic - the K701/Q701 actually sounds more like a Grado (without the too strong L-C-R with recessed areas between L-C and C-R) and actually made them sound a bit better than my HD600. I have a Meier Cantate.2 and while it works great with the K701/2, it didn't have the dynamics of the Burson on these headphones. The HD600/650 don't improve much better on the Bursons though, but of course it's easier to find an amp that can drive them well. Has better current on the HD800 too but not as drastic as the change with the AKGs (and the Meier amp actually sounds great on those AKGs).

This one work perfectly well with AKG and Sennheisers

Baxide - Have you tried Sennheiser's HDVA 600/800?
