I bought Nora Jones - Come Away With Me from HD Tracks WAV 24 bit 192 kHz but Tera doesnt play it. It stops, buzz, play again, buzz.....whats happening?

And confirm the files work fine on the PC - so its not a case of corrupted files. I have to try different SD cards next

Tera wants wav file without ID-tags and without metadata.

In XLD settings, click on the wav settings,  set to 16 bit and uncheck the 'write tags' checkbox.
In metadata settings uncheck all boxes.

That's what I always do in XLD as well and can confirm this works (I purchased the same album from HDTracks a while back, also in 192 resolution WAV).

Although I'm still surprised it does not work as is without conversion because most HDTracks albums do (I always buy 192-24 WAV when available and only convert to to 16 bit for Tera to save space).

I'm glad you think so. I'd have gotten the Duo too if I hadn't heard Bootsy talking about having to demo 20 Duos to find the right one!

OK found the root cause of the problem - the SD card. The problem card is a class 4 card. Once I used a class 10 card, everything is OK. Thanks to all for suggestions.

And the 24 bit 192kHz from HDtracks works directly in TERA - no conversion required as mentioned in this thread.

24 bit plays fine but the Tera chops it down to 16 bit so all you "gain" by having the "full" version on there is less tracks on your SD card and less battery life because it has to read more data to play the same amount of music.

If you're happy with these trade offs fair enough, but I thought you should know :)

I once discussed this with Charles Altman. It all has to do with the access time to the SD card. This value is not easy to find in the specs of the SD cards. It is not directly related to the transfer speed of a card. It's the buffer and the timing to fill it which is related to this issue. He recommend me to trim the 24 bit filled to 16 bits versions....

So the RAM upgrade that Charles does will have significant practical benefits? I don't need the better randomizer though.

Any SD card recommendations, by brand and tech specs?

Sandisk always failed for me in the Tera, either it didnt work or it constantly popped after every track. I went Transcend and its been working fine with a 128GB

Man each time I use my Tera + SE5 rig I really ask myself why I own anything  else. Listening to Asaf Avidan and the raw emotion is unbelievable.

Really? I went from Kingston (30mb/s) to Sandisk (60mb/s), both Class 10. That anomaly I experienced and described earlier was with a Kingston, have not experienced it since I switched to Sandisk.

I thought Tera supported up to 32Gb only?

I don't even know why I have anything at all since I hardly have the time and opportunity to plug in! I can only chalk that under being human -- mostly discontented, always stupid. Deadly combination.
