Fiio e09k + iMac

Hey guys,

Really new to this kinda stuff and I've been searching for days with no success. I have an iMac that I run all my music off of and I wanted a desktop amp, so I bought a Fiio e09k. I'm running Sennheiser HD598's. My question is; Is there anyway to run the e09k through the iMac without getting the e17? Is there a certain cable I have to buy, cause it's not working with just the USB.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys!!

Ah, you should have come here first.

The e09k is an amp only. The USB port only functions if you have either an e07k or e17 docked into it.

However, ypou can use the e09k as an amp. Just buy a 3.5mm to rca cable and connect it to the Fiio, then plug in headphones into e09.

That way you are effectively double amping since you still use the build in DAC and amp from the iMac.

By the way, all this info is available in this forum if you just use the search function and put in some effort to read a few threads.

Cheers,
K

Apologies, I should have searched the board harder. I really appreciate the help though.
