I'm right there with you Man.

So I am really loving the AKG additions to my headphone stable.  The K545 & K550 have really grown on me, bringing me back to reference class "balance" and detail that frankly, the GRADO SR225e I had kind of scared me away from.  What I DIDN'T expect was that the AKGs would deepen my love of my Basshead sessions when I go off the deep end!  I've been recovering from surgery since yesterday, so you know, nothing but TIME.  OH MAN.  Got stir-crazy, and no one else was home so I just snapped.  Whiz Khalifa, EPMD "Da Joint", Tyler The Creator "Slow It Down"  (Laughed my butt off!)  and went on from there.  It was seriously TIGHT.  I guess I had desensitized myself to bone-rattle from using the SZ-2000 for so long.  When I walked away from them for a while, coming back to them just made me appreciate them all that much more.  And mind you, this was straight through the ASGARD 2!  I never felt up to getting up to hook directly to the iDSD Micro and applying Bass Boost.  (Moderate relative to other offerings, agreed; but as the ASGARD 2 has NONE, it would still have added something.)  Funny thing is that I went back and listened to each with the AKG K545s and discovered that there is ALL shades of whacked-out happening in the background that I never heard before.  There were the known "knowns", but hearing those unknown "knowns" was almost like listening to new songs.  (I then went back to the SZ2000s and blew them up again with BASS!)  :basshead:  Yeah....  GOOD times....

I was switching from IEM (Aurisonic 2.5) to SZ and the detail and synth is so clear on the 2.5 (Wiz track) but the slam is so ******* brutally awesome on the SZ which I hadn't heard for a week.

Nothing does everything in the headphone/IEM world so we need some of them all.

I don't need 3 sources but whatever **** it..I'm a der................:D

Sell the other bits on the Sale forum and buy the Note 4. Jetaudio with V4A is teeth chattering, jaw vibrating insanity.

Also, if you're buying the note 4, don't get the Snapdragon version... the one that's available freaking everywhere. there's an alternate one, it's called the Exynos version. You won't be able to fiddle around with as much I reckon, but you'll get Wolfson Microelectronics WM5110E Audio Hub CODEC w/ Voice Processor DSP.

Best bet would be to get a Galaxy S6[not the edge, edge's slippery] which has a better Exynos. Not sure about the DAC though but both are very capable phones, and if you don't care about the brand and want something with good bang to buck ratio, go for Meizu MX4 Pro.

MX4 Pro's literally the tip of the iceberg IMO in terms of phone audio. The performance, not so much. But there's an update coming up and it'll take a year or something, so yeah. there you go.

I wonder if there is any in ear headphones with better "cannon" bass than the Audio Technica ATHCKS1000?

Any advice?

Thank you,

Reading with interest the Note + V4Android stuff. I have a Note 2 rooted and running a Note 4 ROM with V4A. Note 2's can be had for about $200 tops used and $350 tops new. Quad core Exynos and no Knox! It's an option, since you won't need it as your primary phone. Note 2's run like a dream. I've had it since launch and it looks and runs like it did when I bought it.  Just a thought!

I love the screen area of the Note. I wanna try and make that work though a Cayin C5 strapped to a Note with a Dragonfly might be a largish over neck rig:p

If that's one of your important points like me......you just called out your headphone soulmates name:D

Need pads,EQ and amp but that bass will slap you around and then linger for a while for sure
