The Best Bass Headphones are.. ( "The EXTREME BASS Club") - Page 230

Are the Minneapolis SZ1000 from a headfi member? I am interested in those.

Been a lurker for the longest and got the SZ2000, Fiio E10K (as I'm a desktop listener) and the HM5 pleather pads.

I'm sorry to say that its not living up to expectation. I'm using the equalisation settings that I posted in the SZ2000 thread and the bass hits, but not hard to the point as shown in Hawaiians videos.

Note that I'm from the UK and purchased an EU model with the Z Series labeling rather than the Livebeat labeling of the Asian models so I'm not sure if the EU ones are toned down.

Even if I put the fiio on high gain, as soon as the volume goes above 4, it desorts pretty bad.

If anyone has any suggestions it would be great, I could also take a video to demonstrate the lack of bass power if need be (playing on my level).

Start with everything unchecked, and make sure youre in Expert mode (menu > UI setting > Expert)

If using it with a music player (such as Poweramp) make sure FX compatible mode is turned on (menu > FX Compatible Mode > Compatible). Set it to "Normal" if using streaming services like Pandora, YouTube, Google Music, Spotify, Soundcloud, etc.

Make sure youre in the "Headset" tap at the top.

Check the very first box (Enables V4A)

Check "Enable FIREqualizer"

Press the EQ graph

Increase 31hz to +12db

Decrease 62hz to -3db

Decrease everything else to about -5db

Hit ok

Enable ViPER Bass

Set bass mode to Pure Bass+

Set "Bass Freq" to 60hz (can also try lower freqs, but EQing already takes care of those)

Set "Bass Boost" to +17db

Optional:

Set "ViPER Clarity" to Natural

Set "Clarity" level to +11db

Enable "Tube Simulator"

Enable "Dynamic System"

Set "Listening Device" to Extreme Headphone (v1)  (change this to your taste)

Set it to 2%

Set "Output Gain" to 0db

Set "Limit Threshold" to 0db

If you followed all of the settings youll have my exact settings. You may also want to mess around with the ViPer-DDC to see if you can get your highs to cut through a little more clearly.

Other combos that sound good:

Disable EQ

Set bass type to subwoofer

Set clarity to xhifi

Adjust the gains to preference.

This whole program is very subjective so dont be scared to mess around a bit. Set your volume to about 50% (unamped) and play around with stuff till it sounds good. Then amp it and turn up the volume a bit.

Thanks mate it helped me a lot , but only issue was that I cant find that Expert mode , but except that everything is banging .ty

I highlighted the problem. The amp you are using, even if it is meant for desktop use, is considerably weaker than the Fiio E12 we recommend here (200mw @ 32ohm vs >880mw @ 32ohm). Also, it has no bass boosts and if you've seen the videos of the bass output when the bass switch is turned on vs off, you know that's one of the main things that make it a killer combo with the SZ2K.

So to get bass like in the videos, either get the e12 or wait for a final verdict for the Cayin C5 a lot of people are recommending currently and it could potentially take the place of the e12 for the recommended extreme bass amp.

NP man. Expert mode might only be available in select versions of the apk file. It unlocks some additional settings, but most of them I never use..

Like @DreamKing mentioned it's a power issue and that is it.

The e12 is 4 times as strong on paper <<<see what i did there

It seriously needs the big power amp. You just need that and you get the bass that is in the vids. Trust the support team in the thread that just hooked up the android user. Thanks to that big explanation that bro is on his way. Trust the advice. We take bass seriously here

it's your amp.....she's got small breasts and no ass:D

Greeting folks! During my quest to find a new set of headphones I stumbled across this thread. I signed up to the site just because of this thread! I did purchase a pair of Sony MDR-XB950BT headphones because I wanted something wireless. I have to say that they have some amazing bass. And I would still recommend these headphones overall, but they need an EQ since the higher frequency bass is boosted too much IMO on them. I still do not regret the purchase and will be keeping them for work use (which is what I originally purchased them for). But being a basshead I wanted even more. I have lurked for a few weeks and end up purchasing the SZ2000 and Fiio E12 amp based on this thread. I ended up getting the headphones in the mail first and after trying them I was a bit disappointed. But I held out till I received the amp to reserve judgment. I received the amp today and during my morning coffee I un-boxed, plugged in and OMG the grin on my face must have looked so ******* retarded! HAHA. I am in bass bliss right now. It is still not the same experience as system in a car or floor standing speakers, but this is the next best thing! I am enjoying my honeymoon with this setup so much right now as I type this. And even with this setup I still want MORE! MORE BASS CRACK! So let us all find the next best thing!

Next step is to change the pads on these things because god damn they are shallow. I dont like having the cage right ON my ear.

BTW I started a "Bass" playlist on Spotify. Perhaps we can share playlists with each other?

I tried to post a link to my Spotify playlist but It would not let me. What is up with that?

EDIT: NVM I found an email explaining why I was having problems.
