The Hardest hitting Headphones are.. ( "The EXTREME BASS Club")

Hey, can my Onkyo ES-HF300 enter 40mm contest? I'm sure it'll be blown away by Lords of Bass but maybe they can win a small award or something. Like the Best Bass for Girls award.

Do you guys know a good way to increase bass without distortion in Foobar? I'm an EQ noob.

  Hi guys,

Im planning to get JVC SZ2000, will these headphones deliver the same amount of bass like a car audio system with booming loud bass?

Thanks

In so far as a headphone can do that yes. As a basshead coming from car audio (IASCA)

  1. MUST have an amp
  2. MUST change the pads to XX from old 55x
  3. MUST be able to eq sub-bass

If you can do those 3 then you have will be as close as you can get IMO Others may have alternate paths to sub-bass heaven.

Thanks a lot! Yes im convinced and impressed.

Any portable amp you can recommend on these bad boys (budget friendly if possible)? My source will be an iphone 4s.

My goal is a extreme bass with a portable setup. :D

Some other folks might wanna jump in and give you alternate paths to bassville station. Give them time to chime in.

With the app in the top vid on your phone I'd take the e/12 as it's cost to performance ratio seems reasonable to me. That's me though.
If you do not change the stock pads you will be very sad. They suck ass big time. big time suckassness.

That combo is very good but you will need EQ software running on your iPhone to deliver the bass you are looking for such as what HBB has recommended before - Audioforge Equalizer App.

Or you could pair your iPhone with the Fiio E17 portable amp/DAC which has bass and treble EQ boost controls on device. If you boost the bass only on the E17 to +10 with a big bass track like Wiz Khalifa's - "On my level" with the SZ2000 or SZ1000 the magnitude of bass will vibrate the headphones, your head, neck and jaw without any audio distortion

Just connect your iPhone to the E17 above and you're good to go :)

The above cans are the SZ1000 and IMO a pad change is not essential for these unlike the SZ2000

I'm going to have to disagree with you there. The 55x pads were well worth it, i would pay a lot more than $15 for the increase in bass quality and comfort it gives you. I really didn't like the material of the stock pads on the sz1000, way too shallow, soft, and trapped in heat.

I am really going to look into a e17 for bass on the go. It looks like a good time.

That's ok :)

It's all about what's good for the individual for sure - I currently use pads off my 77's at the moment for my SZ2000's but have 55's on the way as I like to use my 77 cans too - they are a mighty cannon indeedy and I'm tempted to do the HBB mod to them to give even more slam :beerchug:

When my 55 cans eventually arrive, I'll be putting those pads on the SZ2K and 77's will get their pads back.

I recommend the E17 as I own an use it so have hands on experience with it and know how effective it is in EQing the bass to pull the best out of these mentioned cans, plus Fiio are just a solid brand that produce amazing gear at very reasonable prices :)

Sounds like a plan, Thanks a lot guys. :)

I would do the SZ2000+E17+77x pads combo.

Getting the SZ2000 will be a bit of challenge here in AUS.

But worth it  (IMO)

The SZ series is easily available in the UK directly through JVC UK or Amazon UK, but at a premium compared to Japan and USA, why they make it difficult for folks in the land down under is bizarre of JVC, from the land of the rising sun.

For some reason JVC like to stiff certain regions over others when it comes to pricing and/or availability :confused_face_2:

But nonetheless, the SZ range is beyond awesome when it comes to delivering bass, with JVC's MR77X's not too far behind :)

2 Months ago I considered buying the SZ2000 but got the Philips X1 instead. Not bad, but deep inside I knew something was lacking.

I was reminded of how much a basshead I was. (I also own the M50, M100, XB920, JBL S700, none of which I consider "bassy")

I'm getting the SZ2K  very soon and a new amp too. My E07 Andes has one very annoying issue: it self discharges in matter of weeks. I'd rather have an amp with physical on/off witch. It's got to be the E12. The new Digizoid was also considered but I can't justify that much to use on a bass can.

Here comes the question.. Do I have to buy a brand new M55X just for the pads.. or they are sold separately elsewhere? According to you, is this is best pad available for the SZ2K?

For the most parts depends on where you live. Quite easy in the U.S., presumably difficult in other places. You can do a quick search on ebay, pads come up a few times a week.

You can also send a message to all of the people selling the actual headphones asking if you can buy only the pads, if you're lucky somebody will sell them.

I am also sold on the sz1000
first I will have to sell a pair of the cans I have already first as I have 3 expensive cans as it is with the ath-ws99 ath-pro700mk2 and a pair of beats studios which I never use,
I also have a pair of ath ws55, I had and sold the ath m50 so as you can see Ive been searching for some bass cans for a while spending more and more money trying to get to where I want so I hope the sz1000 will be the ones
my amp is the fiio e17 and i just bought the e09k to pair with it
