Bob - assuming you will continue improving, I think your approach of getting the basics right first is the way to go.  A well built, non-microphonic fixed cable, which is sturdya nd has good strain relief is all we need for now.  And if you build a TOTL flagship in a year os so - go for the detachables then.

Good to see you posted the photos.  I was very tempted to slip in the snaps you showed me last night - but thought this time I should wait .  Really like the look of the cabling you have in the photos.  I take it your a lot happier with the sound signature of the range now?

Yes I am very happy now. In fact in my humble opinion I think they are all spot on for the IEMs.

Awesome!

Will the original Acero still be painted black?

The quietness just means everyone is hard at work.

I did see those photographs on Twitter. They have became a very polished product. You and the team have done a great job at developing the product range. :beerchug:

I have a few audio like-minded friends who are amazed at the interchangeable filter concept after borrowing my Alfa Genus, wait till they see what else will be coming.

Are the plastic tubes at the IEM cable entrance still prone to slipping down the cable?

Thanks for the kind words.

They say there is no I in team, except in this case, all the responsibility for the end design and driver design falls on my shoulders, hence me being a little quiet on here lately.

The little tube has been fixed, just needed a little glue rather than using just an interference fit :)

Cheers

Bob

It will. But when I get a few moments I will sort out a group buy for those interested in the plain wood.

New filters just arrived.  Pics will have to wait until later this evening.  I have the Alga Genus in my ear right now.

Dayummmm!

Bob - you knocked this one out of the park.  Perfect balance between the two other filters.

I'll make sure I rewrite the whole review - but I first need to finish the A83 review I'm currently working on.

Anyway - for anyone considering buying the Alfa Genus - the new filter makes these a must buy for the money.

They're a little darker than some of the IEMs I've been listening to lately (Altone200 and Fidue A83), but treble is pretty smooth, and vocals are nice and clear.  Bass is where it should be. Genuinely enjoyable, relaxed listening experience.

Balanced (but warmish) is a good word to describe them.

It looks like we are almost there biggrin.gif

So they are darker than the two other filters?

No.  Silver one is darkest.  Ebony is brightest.  "Gold" one sits nicely in between the two - but is slightly darker than my day to day IEMs (Altone200, Fidue A83).  This is not a bad thing, and will probably suit mainstream buyers a lot more.  It also means the upper end is quite smooth and non-fatiguing.
