ooops, my mistake. Its the wrong pic. The designer got that one wrong. I asked for the amended ones today and assumed (bad move) this was in the amended pile.

I will load the other tomorrow.

These will still be secure (we have too for retail), but they will be easier to open and very sturdy and you will be able to keep them nice and neat :normal_smile :

Dual BA done correctly can be an absolute killer, a couple of IEM's in my all-time favourite list are dual-BA (VC1000 and UE700)

So yeah, I would be looking forward to it too

TWFK drivers would be awesome.

Just wanted to share some of my small mods with electric tapes [Credit to TrollDragon] and foams [still thinks foams works best in reducing some of the sibilants caused by the top end of the frequencies] but had limited supplies of foams so yeah...

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Nice!

I'll have to fill the baffle on mine with foam as well, I had put it on the cup back then removed it out for some reason...

Did opening all the holes make a big difference? I haven't tried that yet.

I didn't open the entire holes, just a small portion of it on each using the screwdriver I used to unscrew and screw the headphone throughout the mod. The bass impact increase. Does requires better controls thus the foam. I removed dampening on the woods so that I can "feel" like I make use of the wood material but tomorrow I might at back a very small portion of dampening again and see how it changes sound biggrin.gif

Thanks!

I have been burning in the Alfa Genus along with another similarly priced IEM and find they have similar signatures. I will wait until both have been burned sometime this weekend and will then start to write up a review of the IEM. To be fair to Rock jaw I will only discuss the Genus in my review and will be using both filters as part of the review as the ability to change the sound is one of the Genus qualities that separates it from other similarly priced IEM's.

One thing I can say though is my use of this other IEM brought my expectations back to reality when testing the Genus as it had similar peakiness etc. Which makes me think my current daily IEM has affected my tastes. It is the UE600vi which is a very mid centric single BA. So I have grown accustomed to high levels of detail but tight BA style bass and rolled of treble which is pretty much the opposite of most dynamic based IEMs.

Actually doing a straight up A/B to the other IEM (VSD3S) the Genus is holding up very well. I would say the Genus with the silver filters is kind of Grado like in it's sound. It has a sharp mid-centric sound with tight but not over whelming bass. The VSD3S on the other hand has slightly more scooped out mids which give it a bit more instrument separation and a larger feeling sound stage. The Genus is like being at the front of a rock concert rocking hard and going deaf but not giving a damn as you give in to the music. The VSD3S is like being further back at the same concert enjoying the finer nuances of the music while being with friends discussing where your going to go for tea afterwards.

I will try out the black filters tomorrow and see what I think of the difference in signature.
