ROCK JAW Testers - Page 25

Have you guys tried Sail - Awolnation?

I find myself enjoying this track a lot with crazy giant bass headphone/earphone like Beats but sometimes, my friends calls me crazy xD

Yes indeed Brooko the X3 could add some warmth to the mix, I could try the same test on the C3 but I listen to the FiiO daily. The same applies where I could find some overly bright tracks where the silver's might work but like you say those are special case tracks...

The silver's might give Geddy Lee some bass to his voice but I don't want to go there... wink.gif

I would just say to keep in mind that most of our gear will be listened to using a phone or simple iPod or similar (Acero aside). Depending on what your using can make some very large differences we found.

I imagine the Alfa Genus with black filter may be a good pairing with the iClassic 80GB since the iClassic 80GB is extremely bassy but can be distorted at times thought.

For the sake of being a "normal consumer," I've mostly been using your stuff out of my Note 3. It sounds significantly more neutral than the X3, but I have no idea how it compares to the Studio V. I actually like the Alfa Genus more out of my phone than my SA-31, so synergy may play a big role. I think I've only used the silver filters to compare to the equally bassy Hydra but immediately reverted to the black filters.

...actually Kingwa decided to release the SE like a month after I bought mine so it's the regular SA-31, but does put out the same amount of power. I think the only change is gain, of which the SE has more.

Wicked specs on that amp for sure!

So I did what TD did similarly adding dampening at the back of the driver. Things get less echo-ish and everything cleans up further, but the sub-bass fall behind a little

We will have to compare our mods to the proper Acero's when they arrive to see how to properly implement the fix. I wonder if there are any more holes opened up in the driver.

My wish list for the Acero:
1. Boomy reverberation dampened, keeping the bass quantity and sub bass drive.

2. Padded headband lengthened so it sits a few mm away from the steel band, looks much better.

3. Loose yoke adjusters tightened up so it does not rattle and has a solid click on each stop.

4. Non rubbery cable, possibly a material covered one similar to V-Moda's that has a good lay to it, very soft and flexible.

http://v-moda.com/audio-only-cable/
Only requires a TRS jack not the TRRS like V-Moda's and a length of 1.5M would make it a perfect portable cable.

Turn us a a pair of ear cups out of Bird's Eye Maple with a sweet polish would be prime as well! Maybe that one is going too far? biggrin.gif

Yeah.. Thought of venting the driver too. I'm trying it later biggrin.gif

Hi Guys,

Just a quick update. I decided to get 1 set of gear out to a forum member for a final evaluation. This saves time sending lots of sets if a revision is needed.

So they should have it by the end of the week or worst case Monday of next and if feedback is positive I will get everyone else shipped for your evaluation.

Cheers

Much Thanks Bob!

I found a device that the silver filters work perfectly for, with the black filters the treble from the Alfa's is sharp enough to cut your hair.

3rd Generation iPod nano with the Mmmm smell it, Griffin leather case...

It`s a great combination for the silver filters, the EQ was shut off on the nano and the bass was strong but far from overpowering.

:beerchug:
