For Sale:
New Westone W40 Quad Driver IEMs - NIB direct from Westone

Will Ship To: Continental US

I have a brand new pair of Westone W40s for sale.

I sent my fairly new W4Rs in on a warranty claim and Westone sent me these.  I have since bought a pair of Atrio MG7s, and, as fantastic as the Westones sound, I wont be using them.  My taste runs on the heavy bass side and the Atrio's are perfect for me.

Will ship free to anywhere within the continental US.  Original Invoice from Westone is included.

These have sold.

if you got them with the 150$ deal , i would lower the price to 250-300$ for a quick sell.

Not sure what the $150 deal is.  Maybe a price reduction on the old line before the new line came out?  I don't know.  Anyway,  I paid $397 for the W4Rs.

Anyway, thank you for the input.

Didn't know what the guy meant in the above post about the 150.00 deal.  I do now.  A memeber interested in the Westones explained it to me.

I am going to include my response to him here so that I dont have to repeat this.  Doing this so that you better  understand why I have them and why I am selling them.

Hi Todd,

Thank you for your reply and explinations.  I to am fairly new to higher end earbuds.  Last September, I purchased a pair of shure SE215s and LOVED them.  They were fabulous.  So much so that I began wondering what a 500.00 pair of earbuds must sound like.  So, I did the research and settled on the Westone W4Rs.  I bought them in November for 400.00 and, they were fabulous.  Changed the way I listen to music, even.  And over the course of the next few months, I realized that I wanted more bass....that I am just a basshead at heart, not a musical purist audiophile.  So, I began to research bass heaving IEMs.  Now, in December, the westones developed a wobbling noise in the right side.  I was so unwilling to part with them that I did not send them back until March.  Late March.  About this time, I purchased a new pair of Atrio MG7s from amazon.  Also, bought a pair of the shure SE215 special editions (bass enhanced) and gave the original SE215s to my girlfriend.  Well, I fell in love with the atrios.  Plain and simple.  The bass in unbelievable.  In the meantime, westone sent me the W40s I have up for sale now.  I put them on ebay for 450.00 and they sold in 4 days.  However, the guy got into with his wife over the money and asked if I would grant him a refund, and I did.  They are now back on ebay for 445.00 and I have several watchers.  But, what i found out after I sold them on ebay was after shipping and paying everyone's fees, I only realized 378.00.  So, I decided to  put them on head-fi as well.

These are the genuine article and I am legit.  They are still in the original 'shipping' box westone sent them to me in, and I have the invoice from westone showing a '0.00' invoice amount.

Now, aside from me, there is only one other person on ebay that has them that cheap, and he is 5.00 higher than me.  So, yeah. I thought it was a fair  price.  Somewhere, someone who will absolutely love these things are going to get a whopping 80.00 price break, and that is significant when you are talking about a 500.00 item.

Like I said, i paid 400.00 for the W4Rs and they didnt even have smartphone capabilites like the W40s, and that is worth 50.00 alone.  I listen to music 6-8 hours a day.  Which meant I always had to keep the phone in eye sight to know that I am getting a call in.  I use a sansa fuze+ player with a Fiio amp, so not only did I have to carry the phone around, but, had to carry the sansa and amp around as well.  Then when a call came in, I had to extract the earbuds, pause the music and grab the phone.  With my atrios, which do have smartphone capabilities, I now simply hit the button and talk.  I bought a samsung galaxy S4 and downloaded poweramp and this, along with the amp, is what I use now.  And yeah, I would have paid an extra 50.00 for the smartphone capabilities.

Anyway, I enjoy my atrios twice as much as I do the westones, so when I got them, I immediately put them up for sale.  I love the atrios, but they pale in comparison to the mids and highs of the westones, and now, I want it all.  highs, mids, bass - everything.  So, I decided to quit playing around and simply spend the 999.99 on the Shure SE846s, which from my research, is the living end for earbuds.  The  best of everything.  Unfortunately, they are way out of my financial reach - but, not if I sell the westones and get 400.00 for them.  My girlfriend loves the atrios to death, so I will give them to her.

So, maybe that pair you are looking at on ebay is mine.  Think about that.

And no, I am not offended at all.  I really appreciate you having taken the time to explain what you did.

About the 150.00 trade up?  No, that doesn't apply to me, and I have paperwork from westone to prove it.  What is more, I would not  have done that.  The W40s have the same exact sound as the W4Rs, which I already paid 400.00 for.  I would not pay another 150.00 for the same sound.  I mean, that just doesnt compute, and, the added smartphone capabilities would not have made up for the difference.  Anyway, I didnt know what that guy meant by the $150.00 deal, so thats for enlightening me.

The westones will sell.  Someone will get and incredible pair of earbuds, and I will be one step closer to my precious Shure SE846s.

Todd, you will love them when you get a pair.  You will love them.  They are incredible.  I just wish they would have had the bass the atrios do.

You take care, my friend.

Hey abbztract,

Thanks so much for the interest and the offer, but I'm going to have to pass on it.  I am trying to buy a pair of Shure SE846s and need the money from the Westone sale to make it possible.  If something changes, however, I will give the proposal consideration.

Thank you,

Rick
