Moving too fast with purchases? - Page 2

I was reading reviews about it just now. Looks awesome, 128gb is actually plenty for me for portability.

My next move should be working on lossless audio files. I just upgraded my iTunes with iMatch as I had some extremely low quality recordings that were many years old. That was a noticeable difference.

I'm assuming that's it's safe to say you are a believer that lossless sounds significantly better than 256? I've honestly never heard lossless, and most of my CDs, no actually all of my CDs are in my house in NY, and I'm in sunny hell in South Florida.

I have to research more about converting my iTunes to lossless, I've only glanced at it.

If not, the whole new, HiRes source is basically a waste.

I use dBpoweramp for all my FLAC CD rips. I hate to say this, but if you own the CD, then you can BitTorrent the ISO or look for rips of them.

Ok, I'll check into that. Thank you again for your advice.

My current dilemma is, if you want to call it that, my girl just told me she'd "buy" me a 5g touch. That almost means it won't cost me anything, but that's not entirely true as we basically share everything, excluding my secret stash.

That would leave me wondering about better players... I need to really get to a meet. I'd gladly buy the Sony if I knew it'd be that much better, even if it is more than I originally planned on spending. Like that saying I've read here many times, "buy once, cry once".

tonight when I get home from work I'm going to try some FLAC.

Well iPod can run FLAC now with the Onkyo HF player with out conversion, so you can try that too.

Awesome, it doesn't downgrade (not sure if that's the correct word) the music quality?

BTW, a used F806/7 is only around $250.

I'm going to research those as well, supposedly they sound almost the same, just saw a mention of it in a thread.

Ok, made a decision and bought the Sony zx1. I will have it this week. I'll share my thoughts on my new setup. Now, I am done for a while.

FYI, HDTracks.com just released their 2014 HD samples (free), and I suggest you get it along with the 2013 samples :).
