Bose OE2 for $75... good value or no?

I found several pair of Bose OE2 at Target for $75. I know many people have said they are definitely not worth their MSRP of 149.99, but at $75 are their really any comparable products?

Short answer: No.

Anything Bose is practically banned from this forum lol. The price behind Bose headphones are 70% marketing, 30% quality. Get a pair of Grado SR80i's (at retail $99 it's still a steal, but don't expect it to go on sale because they don't) like everyone else starting audiophilia. Or Koss PortaPro's if your budget is limited. SE115m if looking for an IEM.

Hope this helps ;P

I think that's a good price for them. There is better at the price though. Bose seems to be riding off of their speaker innovation back when they made the 901. If you like the sound signature go for it. The JVC HA-S680 is near that price and supposed to be good. Audio Technica ATH-M50 aren't bad. There are also many good open headphones such as the SR80i's as stated by gradofan1. I think you can beat the Bose for that price, but some people like those headphones... I suggest you do some research on budget headphones and listen to some. You might find something you like a lot better.

Well I definitely understand the "Better Sound Through Marketing" reputation of Bose. These would be something that probably sits on my head for more than 6 hours a day during the work week, so I am as concerned about comfort as I am sound. I know the Grados can get uncomfortable after extended use. And one thing I have heard about Bose is that their headphones are very comfortable. Also this would be on a giftcard anyway, so it wouldn't be any actual out of pocket expense to get these.
