Is this something you have tested personally? Or just going off the FR graph?

I think adding music to the first post would be a pretty cool idea, but we'd have to agree on some music first.

You should add the JBL Synchros S700 over ear. Audiophile sound quality with basshead pounding bass.

Some more candidates would be the JBL J55 on ear and J88 over ear. Great bass and sound quality, but a little less balanced

Thanks! Both have been added - with your additional comments.

Yeah. I returned them. To muddy for my taste. Not enough sub-bass either

a fresh start for the bassheads - why the hell not? glad to find this thread, i was beginning to wonder how come the basshead club was so quiet the past few days...

as for the topics at hand:

i think adding test tracks to the main page is a good idea, but it could cause alot of clutter, so why not recommend artists as opposed to tracks? maybe organize it according to genre? i think that the electronic genre, atleast the downtempo slot, can be well represented by "clubroot". his tracks are basically built around the bass line, with heavy heavy sub bass rumbling in almost all his tracks. i liked his 2nd and 3rd albums the most.

also, while browsing through the thread (i admit it was done briefly) i saw talk about equalizers? i use electriq for foobar. if anyones interested, Xnor once explained to me how to download and install it, i suppose i could re-create that post on here and provide an explanation myself, maybe even recommend some bass boosting settings. if anyone thinks this is a good idea just give us a post, and ill have it done sometime this week.

cheers :beerchug:

Add the XBA-H1 and XBA-H3 to the list--if the normal XBAs are on it, surely the hybrid ones should be too :)

Absolutely fantastic to have you here mate, welcome!

I think using artists instead of tracks would be great for some genres, but not for others. For instance, one of my "go-to" bass test tracks is from a hip-hop artist I barely listen to - he just has this one track with ridiculous amounts of constant bass.

Do many of you guys use EQ/boosting to get your desired bass level?

Or would you prefer to not use EQ at all?

I use both EQ and tone controls on my Pioneer Spec system to get just the right sound. It's capable of extremely deep bass, as it has mid bass and sub 50 hz tone adjustments of up to 10db.
