My bad, you were right. I was thinking of the pro 900 for some reason. Lol

Hmmm...well not in the UK?

Anybody know just how much harder the DJ's hit compared to the Pro's?

I believe that this has been answered in the other basshead thread as if I remember properly the DJs are listed on the top 10.

These are bassy enough to satisfy my bass urges now! Yay!

Ahh, nice one - I'll check it out, though your mention that they feature already in the top 10 has perked my interest up quite a bit - I may well drop green on these bass beasts sooner rather than later if they are now discontinued as there appears to be decent stock still floating around UK vendors at present, but will of course start to dry up now discontinued.

What are those cans you picture? Look like HD25's?

What are your thoughts on it? Fairly strong bass? How does it compare to other JVC cans?

Well, my thoughts on this can don't extend much further from what I've already commented on them to member BucketInaBucket
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
... if you want something wth more pronounced bass with general more warmth of sound, then I'd recommend you audition the sublime JVC HP-DX1000 wink.gif which is roughly TH600 money or slightly just under. You lose a little of the detail offered by the FOSTEX duo, but you gain a warmer, more fun audiophile sound that doesn't need any mods to address any bass impact deficit.

The only other JVC cans I own are the SZ2000's and the HA-MR77X's, which are very different cans between them but even further away from the HP-DX1000's in as much the SZ2000's are pretty unique in their build and technology of attempting to replicate the sound and sensation of floor speakers and with EQ have incredible depth and fullness of bass that's hard to find elsewhere and the 77's an amazing budget bass can, that although a bit tinny sounding, delivers big on bass and considerably more with EQ and how JVC sell these cans in UK for £60 is beyond me, they are a steal.

But the HP-DX1000 are on another level from the other two in terms of sound - these are true blue audiophile grade cans in sound and looks/presentation.

Common gripe between all 3 JVC - fixed non removable cables.

J-V-C - three letters make the manufacturer - 3 cans - a Trilogy of Bass - all good things come in 3's -

The worlds most hated on yet successful headphone brand and most overlooked/undervalued by audio snobs, that forget how beats opened up the world to headphones in general, yet still, IMO, have a more than credible sound signature.

They may well be expensive as a stand alone product, but beats are the only headphone brand classified as also a lifestyle brand and what price can you put on the kudos effect?

V-Moda are the only other brand that takes styling seriously - another brand I love and own cans from, namely the crossfade m-100 and sublime XS.

Thing both v-moda & beats share in common?

For me, beats will always have a place in my headcan collection - if it wasn't for beats and specifically original Monster beats wireless, chances are I wouldn't be here at head-fi today smily_headphones1.gif

This very can is where my personal headphone adventure began! smily_headphones1.gif

The beats wireless are by design, the standard solo HD's - only on steroids with bigger form factor and plusher ear pads.

Since beats departure from Monster, the wireless have been improved upon by the added function of playing with supplied cable, handy if internal rechargeable battery dies on you if you are out and about, a feature the original wireless didn't have.

gelocks owned both the signature pro and the DJ.  Sold me the Sig Pro and let me audition the DJ for a week or so.  I think the DJ is a great portable basshead phone with quality sound but it is not the hardest hitting headphone I've heard.  Not even close.

I wonder now what Ultrasone will replace the Signature line with if they truly are discontinuing them?  Has anyone heard?

How different is the bass response between the Pro's & DJ's, in your opinion - is it a considerable difference or not so much?

Check my signature, they're the Argentum headphones listed as my current favourite pair of headphones. Hop on the orthodynamic round-up thread for more details about the making of. They look cheap because they're cobbled together from various parts wink.gif. Not much sub-bass but they can take an awful lot of EQ biggrin.gif

Not really too big, probably due to the wider soundstage as well.

Here were my "initial" impressions which still stand...

Thanks.

Dude!

This is a tailored fit to measure review I was looking for - very interesting too smily_headphones1.gif

Big thanks!

It's been said that I buy headcans like others buy cheeseburgers, so maybe it's time for a double one with fries & a choc milkshake to go biggrin.gif -

I think I'll end up regretting letting the DJ's pass if I don't pull the trigger on them now as they are discontinued and will slowly slip away into only the second user market to pick up.

I'm too darn intrigued in the differences between the DJ's and the Pro's which though may not be as apparent as previously thought, nonetheless appeal to me as a fan of ULTRASONE to let go by.

One thing that is very contrasting is the colour scheme - very nice indeedy.

I'm 90% there on pulling the trigger with a cold sweat starting on my brow - lol biggrin.gif
