Please recommend me new headphones!  ~$100-$200 range.

Currently i'm rocking cheapo koss pro dj-100 (with m50 pads) but it just doesn't cut it.

I've had denon dh700 - I liked them (its been awhile, but I remember wishing the bass extended deeper)
Also had akg tiesto - they were ok but i got rid of them

anyway I think I perfer a flat tone with good extension (versus the v-shape)

considering denon d600 or logitec ue6000 on closeout - do you think these are worthy upgrades?  maybe m-40 as well.

FWIW, no amp yet.
The D600 is good but huge and has a V-shaped sound signature. The UE6000 I've never heard. The Q40 is flat except for the bass side of things. In this case I think the Q40 is best for your needs. A separate cable is necessary but they can easily be bought - most people prefer the V-Moda audio-only cable. I usually recommend the Alpha Pads which are $60 + shipping but in your case I think something like Beyer velour pads will be better but I've never tried them with the Q40 personally. Another option is the M-Audio HPH-50/Akai equivalent (I forgot the name, sorry) with a HawaiiBadBoy mod applied but I've never had a chance to personally audition that. Not many other options in the $100-$200 price range that fit your criteria that I can think of.

I have to second the recommendation of the q40 (as always lol). I suggest you get the Beyer leather rather than velours, the shure leather pads are popular as well (I haven't heard shures or Beyer pads though).
Pick up a little fiio e11 amp for sure though.

So... how 'bout these bassy headphones huh?!?!  ... ... ...

I'm actually kind of taking it easy with headphones and will probably decide to part with a few of them soon. Still, I want to try the new M-Audio offering... I added it to my cart on amazon but there seems to be a wait time. Still, it was the cheaper option I have found at the moment so... maybe I should just pull the trigger, buy it and wait...

The Audiophile Bass Lounge goes 2.0

Guys, I took the liberty to start our own group: http://www.head-fi.org/groups/show/34/the-audiophile-bass-lounge-group

Please join (it's open for everyone; really, everyone).

I was thinking we could put reviews in there, suggest basstesing tracks/music, maybe have some polls and such? It's not meant to "compete" or replace this thread (I think discussion for instance, should be done here), but it would be a great repository for posts and threads that could be broken out of this thread (for instance polls, music and reviews) that isn't discussion.

Is this the model you are looking to pick up?

As far as I'm aware of, that's the only new model M-Audio are offering. According to HBB they're extremely flat and don't respond to EQ at all and he had to open a couple baffle ports (if I recall properly) before he got the amount of bass he wanted. As always, YMMV.

HBB has that Akai version amd it MAY be the same but till M-Audio starts shipping we really wont know.  I'll be very disappointed if it is a monitor style after the Q40, which was bassy and yet had a good all around sound.  ill be pre ordering it now that gelocks found it on Amazon.

As to the drama, let's all not play into it.  Both threads have value and HBB is an interesting dude.  If you want only headache inducing thump you know where to go.

Just FYI, the person who mentioned it is correct: Using a thread (or group) to bash someone will get that thread locked (and the group closed or deleted). It is not for discussion, at all.

Warm and bassy! :D

Strongly focused on the lower spectrum with a fair amount of mid-bass, probably close to the bassiest headphone I own for a portable however the mids do a considerate job staying fairly clear without  adopting a veil which I often find annoying on a warm headphone. The separation is rather poor though,  I picked these up for $15 AUD on eBay, someone obviously didn't know they were worth a bit more. So my value for money bias radar is raging!

They're OK, I enjoy them more than M80 I had a few months back to be honest,

I rebirthed them..

I just created a poll for every headphone that are to be voted about in the Bass Lounge Group. Please leave a vote if you have experience with any of them.

Those of you who consider yourselves bassheads, and aren't members yet, please join our group. My idea is that the group should be a complement to this thread with polls, pic threads, reviews and so on. :o
