I'm a proud owner of DT 770 and have been enjoying them for a while. Around 3 months ago I stood up from my chair while wearing my headphones and apparently it was a harsh motion. The tip of the headphone plug broke and half of it stayed inside of the headphone jack. I ended up opening my laptop and replacing the headphone jack because there was no way of getting the headphone tip out of it but now I'm left with no headphones.
I want to repair my DT 770 and I've seen that Beyerdynamic offers repair services that can repair the cable part of the headphones (which I assume include the plug) for $50. The question is: Should I send my headphones to Beyerdynamic to have them repaired? Or are there better alternatives around here. Would simple soldering solve the problem? Or would it decrease the quality or mess up with my headphones overall?
