Headphone Recommendations for EDM? (Sub-$200)

Hey,

So i have a limited knowledge of headphones and the associated terminology, but I've been using some cheap $15 earbuds for the past several months and i need an upgrade.
I listen to predominantly EDM, but also a bit of rock here and there.
I'm looking for something within the $100-200 price range at the moment, as i'm not really willing to blow much more than that at this point.
The main two i had in mind where a pair of ATH-M50's or a pair of V-Moda Crossfade LP's (Possibly LP2's, though they might be out of said price range where I live.)
But if anyone has any other suggestions i'm definitely open to hearing them!

Thanks.

Are these for home use? Or do you need something portable? If home and isolation is not required, open headphones can give you a bigger soundstage for greater immersion into the music than closed headphones. For example, the DT990 Pro 250 is open and has good bass response. They do need a headphone amp (or soundcard with headphone amp). For a little bit over your budget, the Philips X1 or for within your budget, the Philips L1 (these are semi-open). These generally do not need a headphone amp.

Here are some reviews of the Philips headphones:

Mostly for At-Home use, though i would probably be using them on the go so portability is a factor but not really a priority.

Can anyone put a comparison between the Philips L1's, ATH-M50's and Crossfade LP's?
I don't have an amp, nor a soundcard with one so i'm curious whether the three mentioned can fit into a criteria

-Closed Back (Preferably)

-Good Bass response

-Won't feel like they're crushing my skull if i wear them for long periods of time.

The L1s are semi-open, which means not a very good choice for portable use.

Hi,

You should consider SoundMagic HP100.

Best Luck!

+1 on the DT990 Pro 250 recommendation.  The Beyerdynamic seems a perfect match if you enjoy the driving bass lines in EDM.
