Please recommend headphones for PC/Iphone use

Hi folks,

I a newbie on this site.

I am interested in buying headphones for use with a PC/Iphone and have been looking at the Sennheiser 558 /598, would these headphones be good for direct use without a headphone amp? Any other recommendations?

I have a koss portapro for general use ie gym etc and an AKG K271 studio and find them too analytical for my tastes. I'm after a bit of plug and play headphones I can use anywhere i.e while commuting or listening to music on my pc.

I listen to an eclectic range of music and have a budget of £200 max.

I look forward to your recommendations.

Do you prefer headphones that have a lot of bass?

I'd highly recommend Phiaton MS400. Very warm lively sound, super comfy, excellent isolation, and very portable. They also come with an extension cable you can plug in for home use.

Open headphones like the HD558/HD598 would not be a good choice for community. They have zero isolation.

The JVC HA-S680 folding closed headphones (42 GBP) are great for using on the move (commuting) and easy for the iPhone to drive.

Maybe get open headphones for use with the PC (AKG K612 Pro, 114 GBP).

Nope, would like normal bass, don't want it to be overpowering.

Thank you cel4145.

I did consider headphone amps etc in the past but nowadays I prefer ease of use and basically just plugging in a pair of headphones and enjoying the music rather than analysing too much ... :) hence the quest for plug and play headphones.
