If no one here gets back to you for certain, you can ask on the HD600 thread in the main forum.

ClieOS stated in his review that a design goal of the E12 was that it would be able to drive even 600 ohms. I would bet it would do quite well.

Oh well that's the way the cookie crumbles. The hd 600 I had my eyes set sold for a higher price that i could afford , so it looks like might be going to my next option of the sound magic HP:200.
Any thoughts on these headphones ?rolleyes.gif

While I'm waiting for my HD600 I thought I would check out my dad's old cans, the HD400 and blimey you might need a V8 to push them!! but if no V8 to hand a X5 with E12 works.. And I must admit that for the age of them I'm impressed.smily_headphones1.gif

There has been some new tech for speakers and headphones that can make it easier/cheaper to make good sound. But paper cones, for example, are still used in some top speakers--the older tech is not obsolete, there are just alternatives now.

So yeah. Great speakers and headphones from 20 to 30 years ago can still sound great today smily_headphones1.gif

Oh, and amps are the same way. It is mainly the digital electronics that have seen significant advances.
