In my system (active monitors), with my ears and tastes: more body, more involvement, etc...

I'd agree with this in general. I think the different is pretty clear - Body, involvement, slight warmth, more organic, etc for the DA8 versus more neutral, straight forward and detail oriented, and a more intimate soundstage for the D200. Which one will work best is dependent upon the system and the listener's preferences.

Switching gears..... I finally got around to trying the D200 with IEMs today and it actually works very well. Which is great news! It's not quite silent in the background but the noise is almost imperceptible and does not increase at all when I turn up the volume (unlike some other devices where it increases with gain). So it might be some faint hum generated by the power supply or something, but it is very, VERY low level to the point where I could not hear it at first. This is better than 90% of the amps I've owned which had a more obvious noise with IEMs. This makes the D200 fairly useful even compared to the DA8 which probably has a higher class A bias because it's noisier.

In other news, D200 works well with my Aurender and Aureliti music servers. So that probably means it works well with most any Linux-based music player out there (Bryston, Lumin, etc). Also good news.

Great review! I originally owned the D100mk2 and while it was good found it to actually not be much of an upgrade over the AMB gamma 2 so was quite disappointed. (An aside: DIY done correctly seems to be able to attain astronomical price:performance ratios (the Crack is another example of these) so I guess it wasn't a fair comparison.)

The D100mk2 did have the Gamma 2 beat out on connectivity options and had a decent head-amp to boot so it is still was a great value. However, I was thirsting for something more in turns of pure fidelity and eventually got the DA8, which ended up being definitely in another league. This is what I was expecting when I went for an upgrade!

Seeing what Yulong was able to attain with the DA8, I'm curious how much he has been able to flex his muscles in his flagship D8, do you have any incoming impressions?

Any comparisons of this guy to the Bifrost or the Gungnir?

Output impedance that the amp has both the normal output as balanced?

With low impedance headphones bass is well controlled?

In the website of yulong nothing comes out.

Better than Uber Bifrost imho, but I haven't spent enough time with Gungnir to be sure.

Two weeks ago I bought Matrix Mini-i for my Sennheiser HD650, and today I receive a notification from the store that they receive D200. And I wish to exchange mini-i to D200, because it support dsd and has more powerful amp. So I came to store and D200 absolutely win. BUT then I connected mini-i to m-stage amp and D200 loose... Matrix mini-i + m-stage combination more detail, transparent, and wider scene. Price is the same..

Get the D200 now and save up for an external amp down the road, win-win, no compromises.

That completly crushes my emotions :/ I am about to buy DAC  - and not to spend a kidney on it, so through my online voyages i came to the Matrix Quattro, was quite sure about that, when D200 came on my sight, i read all about it and then was on the fence between, than decided to go for D200, and after this post i am completly off the track again.

I am not able to get a hold of any of these two before buying, so will have to decide somehow remotely.

Anyone came across the Quattro and D200 to compare it 1-1 ?

I know i am unknown on this forum, but i am reading quite a lot here (just don't have anything smart to say) and would like to thank You all for input - really a great help Guys :)!

edit

I have contacted the TamAudio 3 days ago and still nobody got back to me. I hope they're just extremly busy :)
