Better than the Uber Bifrost

Looking for an upgrade from my Uber Bifrost. Needs to be an immediately noticeable sound improvement, not looking for one of these, "listen to it for a couple months...you'll like it" type things. Maximum budget $3k, but more like 1500-2000 if possible. I would like DSD but it isn't a deal breaker. Right now what I am looking at is the Matrix Sabre Dac or maybe one of the Audio GD Master series DAC's

Lastly it is okay to say, you can't get there from here at that price. I know the Bifrst is a really good dac, and it may not be possible to get a markedly better dac for less than 3k. Just looking either for ideas or confirmation about the Sabre Dac I have kind of already chosen.

You are asking the community to guess at what we think will sound better to your ears?  If you rid yourself of you Uber Bifrost prior to "upgrading" how will your ears know for sure if it sounds better?

What headphones do you listen to mostly?

I recently went through the same thing. Sent back the bifrost uber. Tried a 2k dollar chord quteEX and had driver problems. When it played it sounded substantially better than the bifrost. After unreliable performance, I tried the new rotel dac on the recommendation of a trusted friend and store owner. It betters both the bifrost and the chord and it is only 800 bucks. Left with a nice chunk of change to put towards music.

I didn't know Rotel was still in business, good to hear. I'll have to see if any of the local dealers carry that dac.
