Please help me building home theater system with 1000$ budget

Hi everyone, I've been stalking this forum all week long but still very confused about what suits my need. My goal is to build a home theater system with 1000$ budget with no speakers at all ( I dont know using "home theater" is the right term for my need or not ). The reason behind "no speakers" is that Im living with my uncle's family and my basement is surrounded by a lot of fish tanks. My uncle has affair in aquarium so I really mean it. Sometimes I think I live in the middle of the ocean :D

I already got the Panasonic TC-P50S60 which has 2 HDMI, digital output, coaxial and RCA (no headphone jack at all) and a PS4 so the 1000$ budget will be spent on HEADPHONE,  DAC/AMP, RECEIVER or whatever needs. I like Sennheiser sound than other brands. I owned HD 555 7 years ago but it was broken last year. Last week I bought a pair of Sony MDR 6500 but it didn't work out for me. I would like to listen to jazz, trance, acoustic music, movie and games on my PS4 so PLEASE put any recommendations to my need. Thank you so much guys

Assuming you want the warm sennheiser sig, why not go for HD650 and an amp and a dac? If you liked 555, you will probably like 650 or 600 as well.

As your only using headphones with the PS4, you might not need to invest into a A/V receiver. connect the PS4 to the TV using HDMI.

You could just get an Astro Mix-amp ($130), connect it to the PS4 and connect headphones to the Mix-amp.

You can get Senn HD558s headphones used for $96 and new for $123.

Maybe spend a little more for Audio Technica ATH-AD900X headphones ($200)

So for around $330 (plus tax) you would be set, leaves money leftover for buying more fish.

If you have a favorite chair you sit in for your HT usage, you could also get a tactile transducer for creating the felt bass effect that a good subwoofer system would provide.

I would suggest the Shure SRH1540 with the Schiit Asgard 2 (amp) and then get a Schiit Modi (dac).  Given the fish tanks I think you could use the break from them with a closed headphone like the 1540.

Thanks so much for these inputs. Is it different in sound quality between connecting AMP to PS4 and to TV directly ? I tried HD 598 before. Its really cool. However, which pairs of Sennheiser has the best comfort ?

As your gaming I'm assuming you want headphone surround sound, there are only two outputs on the PS4 that output the 6-channels need for surround sound, they are the optical and HDMI outputs..

So if you connect just a headphone amplifier straight to the PS4 you will only get 2-channel stereo audio.

So you would want to hook an Astro mix-amp to the optical connection or an A/V receiver to the HDMI.
