Over ear headphone broke and need recommendations for a new one

Thread Starter

My beat studio (yes I know they're bad) broke after over 2 years of use so I have to find a new over-ear headphone. This headphone needs to be able to work with computer and mobile (samsung phone) and i won't be getting an amp so beyerdynamic dt series are basically out of the question (since 32 ohm versions are too expensive). I also live in Australia so headphone prices may be higher but I am okay with the $200-300 range, preferably closed back and i will consider noise cancelling too. The main music I listen to is pop ,Kpop (some of which has a lot of vocals/instruments in) and sometimes alternative/rock. I will also be using this headphone for gaming (FPS/3rd person, rpg mainly).

So far I have considered ATH M50X and the custom one pro. I have used the original ATH-M50 for a very short time and it sounded good but i'm not sure if it will be a hugely noticeable improvement over my old beats studio and I haven't tried custom one pros before. As I live in Australia, there is virtually no places that let you try on let alone stock these types of headphones. Any recommendations would help.

Note that I don't know much about mids, high etc. but I have listed what kinds of music i listen to so hopefully that helps.

Lol. K pop fan! M50x is rather good with K pop and alternative, as well as pop. I have not heard the custom one pro, but it's not been getting the greatest review here.
