recording to MD from santa cruz (digital?)

Maybe a stupid question - While the santa cruz doesn't have an optical digital output, there is an option to set the 1/8" jack to analog or digital. If I choose digital, can I in fact record digitally from the santa cruz using the 1/8" jack?

I don't know the specs on the santa cruz, but I am guessing it is a coax digital signal, not optical. You would have to get a format converter to go from the coax digital signal to optical if your MD only has optical input.

sorry, my md is a sharp mt90 - so it has the regular 1/8" input, but I don't know if it will accept the coax digital signal.

nope. MD recorders only take optical digital signals, the signal of your soundcard will probably be electrical (which should be mentioned in the manual, it could very well be optical). if it indeed is electrical, you'll need a convertor, which can be found at most RadioShack like stores.
