in need of a cheap mp3 player with line in

hi there

i have searched the forum anc have read all related threads but most were too old or a bit irrelevant to my needs.

ill explain what i need exactly.

i have a band and all i need to do with an mp3 recorder, is to be able to record our concerts from the soundboard, in my mp3 player through its line in.

i have a transcend mp860 mp3 player with line in.

i recorded our latest gig in wav format but it only writes in below cd quality wav files.

though it gets the basic job done, id really love to find a replacement for this that can record in full cd quality wav files, or even better.

i do not care about mp3 player functionality, radio function videos etc. all i care is for the mp3 player to have a line in and to be able to record from a sdb, in the best quality possible. meaning that the least i expect is to record in wav cd quality.

and most basic of them all is for it to be cheap. because i can get a zoom for 100 euros and ill be fine. i do not care if i mind a second hand one. all i care is for it to do my job and do it cheap.

is there something you can recommend?  the only model i have found on the internet that seems to do all i need is a sansa fuze. any other option available? thank you very much

ps. if i cant find a cheap mp3 player to do what i need, i will have 2options. record with my transcend, or go to the next gig with a laptop and a soundcard. but id rather avoid the trouble of carrying the laptop...

thank you very very much

Have you considered a second hand MiniDisc Player?

to be honest no. i never thought of that. do all minidiscs have a line in? from what i remember (please correct me if i amwrong) but minidiscs didnt record in wav but in another format that was better than mp3 but inferior to wav nevertheless... i do not want that as i could still stick with my current mp3 player. also id need to buy a minidisc cassette. so if the total cost is going so much up, id rather buy a zoom with 90 euros...unless i can locate a cheap minidisc in greece that saves the day.. thank you for broadening my horizons. ill look into it more.

any other suggestions are more than welcome
