if distorsion was equal to sounding bad you wouldn't see any tube amp around. distorsion means only that the signal is not exactly the original, it doesn't tell anything about how nice or arsh it sounds (well for hamonics we kind of know that even ones usually sound nicer than odd ones, but that's about it).

also having 3%distorsion in low frequencies is usually a lot less problematic than if it's in the medium freqs.
