Re: Introduction / Headphone help

Hey Guys,

Brand new to all this and have spent the last couple of weeks researching headphones to replace my logitech g930 headset (for gaming) / potentially replace my cheap IEM's as portables.

As I've spent more time researching I've decided id like to give the whole head-fi thing a go rather than just using it as a place to research headphones. Ive had a read through both the headphones buyers guide and the gaming headphone guide.

Im yet to decide what would suite me best, so I figure I may as well ask for some recommendations.

I want something in the $150-200 range preferably closed/portable that I can use for gaming and listening to everything from soft rock through to EDM. I would like detachable cords.

I am however pretty much open to everything. Style wise, headphones like the q-701 or v-moda m-100 are ones that appeal to me. (God no wonder I cant find anything with reqs like that haha)

Cheers!

Seren

Hey Guys,

Just wanted to say thanks for the recommendations!
Really like the look of the mdr-1r and as far as I can tell they're rated pretty highly!

Just wish I could find them cheap anywhere :P

Well if you're looking for some extra bass there is the donscorpio dolphin. I don't know much of the details but everybody who gets it loves it. Most reviews (there aren't many) compare it to $200- $250 in clarity.
If you want more info, you will need to check out the chinese/asian brand thread.

If you don't mind looking wierd, there is the beyerdynamic dt150. Those are pretty neutral and have a lot of isolation according to the reviews on here. Most people say that its a good with pretty much all genres.

If you're looking for a cheaper alternative, there is the logitech ue 6000.
According to this, they sound pretty similar.

I actually did look at the UE 6000 when I was first looking for headphones, but given my previous experiences with Logitech (terrible) I didn't pay them to much attention, maybe I should give them another chance.

Regarding your other recommendations:

- The dolphins look like they'd be great value, however I'm a little skeptical / would prefer to buy from a name brand. Definitely going to have a good poke around and see what I can find about them tho.

- I'd tend towards not looking weird :P

Thanks for your recommendations!
